Free Theatre & Folkloric Dance Workshops Highlight Asunción’s Cultural Weekend

Paraguay’s National Secretariat of Culture (SNC) has announced a comprehensive public agenda for the upcoming weekend of 25-26 July, 2026, in the Historic Centre of Asunción. The schedule includes a diverse range of activities, from live music to historical exhibitions, and interactive workshops. Central features of the weekend will be free theatre & folkloric dance workshops, and a major housing exhibition, the Expo & Foro Che Róga Porã.

Parma Fair and photo exhibition

The cultural programme begins on On Saturday, when the vibrant Palmear Fair returns to Palma street with a variety of gastronomic, commercial, and cultural offerings. This popular street fair is complemented by special activities planned in the surrounding museums and historic spaces within the Historic Centre. It serves as a significant driver for local commerce and community interaction, drawing visitors to the heart of the city.

For those interested in the nation’s history, the National Archive of Asunción will host the exhibition Four Eras of the Republic. The Constitutions of Paraguay (“4 tiempos de la República. Las constituciones del Paraguayy”) This display will be open from 11:00 to 20:00. It presents a unique opportunity to view original documents and important historical materials that trace the constitutional evolution of the country.

Elsewhere, the National Museum of Fine Arts will feature the exhibition “ELBA” by Paraguayan photographer Raúl Villalba, with visiting hours from 13:00 to 19:00. Additionally, the historic Museo Casa de la Independencia will be open for public tours.

Free theatre & folkloric dance workshops

The weekend’s agenda also places a strong emphasis on interactive participation through a series of free theatre & folkloric dance workshops held at the Espacio Cultural Staudt. On Saturday afternoon, the Taller de Teatro Joapy, a theatre workshop, will run from 14:00 to 16:00.

This will be followed by a dance workshop from 16:00 to 18:00, led by the esteemed Ballet Folklórico Nacional del Paraguay. This session offers a unique chance for the public to learn from members of the national folkloric ballet, exploring traditional dance forms and techniques. Both workshops are offered without charge, aligning with the SNC‘s goal of making cultural education accessible to a wider audience.

Major expo connects public with housing solutions

Another component of the weekend’s activities is the Expo & Foro Che Róga Porã, which will be held at the Puerto Cultural Centre. This large-scale event is organised by the Agencia Financiera de Desarrollo (AFD) in collaboration with the Ministry of Urbanism, Housing and Habitat (MUVH). It is scheduled to run on both Saturday and Sunday, from 09:00 to 19:00, with free entry for all attendees.

The exposition is designed to serve as a comprehensive resource for individuals and families seeking housing. It will bring together a wide range of industry stakeholders, including property developers, banks, financial institutions, and cooperatives. These participants will present a variety of housing and apartment options, showcase current and upcoming real estate projects, and provide detailed information on the requirements for accessing credit.
