Paraguay’s Museum of Sciences (MuCi) has announced its special programme of events for September 2026, designed to welcome the spring season by combining science, nature, and creativity. The science museum in Asunción will host a variety of workshops, evening experiences, and free activities for all ages at its Textilia location on General Santos 1030.
Nature and wildlife workshops
A highlight of the September 2026 schedule is an event focusing on the monarch butterfly. As part of an insect-themed day titled Domingo bichero, participants will learn about the butterfly’s life cycle, transformations, and migration patterns. This activity is scheduled for Sunday, 6 September, with sessions available from 16:00 to 17:00 and 17:00 to 18:00. Each session has a capacity of 25 people, with tickets priced at ₲35,000.
Additionally, the museum will offer a seed bomb creation workshop on Saturday, 19 September, from 17:00 to 18:30. This session is open to 25 participants, with an entrance fee of ₲20,000. The following day, Sunday, 20 September, will explore the mysteries of the fungi kingdom. Two sessions will be held, from 16:00 to 17:00 and 17:00 to 18:00, each with 20 places available. The ₲20,000 entrance fee includes a creative activity where attendees can make their own mushroom model to take home.
Space exploration and design
For those interested in space and engineering, the science museum in Asunción is holding a flying saucer workshop. Attendees will have the opportunity to design and build their own model flying saucer while exploring the basic principles of flight. The workshop will take place on Sunday, 27 September, with sessions from 16:00 to 17:00 and 17:00 to 18:00. Each session has a capacity of 20 people, and the cost is ₲35,000.
Paraguay’s first digital planetarium, San Cosmos, also offers hourly shows. Visitors can experience immersive presentations about the universe, the Moon, comets, and stars inside its dome. The schedule is available on the museum’s website, with tickets costing ₲40,000.
Events exclusively for adults
The museum has scheduled several events for older audiences. On Saturday, 5 September, an exclusive evening for adults over 18, titled “Entre plantas y lunas” (Between plants and moons), will be held. The experience includes an immersive show in the San Cosmos planetarium and a garden activity complete with an open-air dinner. Tickets are priced at ₲90,000.
The “La fogata” (The bonfire) book club offers a space for literature enthusiasts to meet. Participants bring their own books to read in the company of others, followed by questions and reflections. This free event for those aged 16 and over will be held on Saturday, 26 September, from 16:30 to 18:00, with 30 places available via prior registration.
Furthermore, technical tours of the future museum’s construction site will be conducted by an architect on Saturdays 19 and 26 September, from 09:00 to 10:30. Tickets for the “Obra tour” cost ₲20,000.
Weekly and free activities
MuCi offers several ongoing activities. Weekly events include an exploration of the bio-pond to learn about fish and their feeding habits, and the Sábado porã (pleasant Saturday) tour through the gardens for bird-watching. Both are available each week for ₲20,000.
A number of attractions are also available free of charge. On the evening of Saturday, 19 September, from 18:30 to 20:30, visitors can observe the Moon using the MuCiTron. The museum’s “Ciencia a cielo abierto” (Open-air science) area, which includes a bio-pond, themed gardens, and an interactive trail, is open daily at no cost.
The Po Prendé themed gardens, which offer a sensory experience with aromatic, medicinal, and ornamental plants, are open on Saturdays from 14:00 to 17:00 and Sundays from 14:00 to 19:00.
