75 Paraguayan Products Reach New Markets, Including First Shipments To Nepal

Paraguay has successfully diversified its export markets in the first seven months of 2026. A total of 75 national products have reached 43 new international destinations, while eight products were exported for the first time. This expansion opens up significant new opportunities for Paraguayan producers on the global stage.

The data was released by the Investment and Export Network (Red de Inversiones y Exportaciones, or Rediex), which operates under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC). The agency highlighted these developments as a key step in broadening the country’s export presence.

New Asian markets secured

Among the new markets is Nepal, which has received Paraguayan goods for the first time. The South Asian nation imported consignments of sunflower oil, mung beans, and cotton fibre. Furthermore, sunflower oil exports also found a new market in Malaysia, strengthening Paraguay’s trade links with the region.

This development is considered particularly relevant due to Nepal’s strategic location between the major global markets of India and China. The most valuable new trade flow recorded during this period was a US$5 million shipment of biodiesel to Singapore, marking it as the principal new product-destination export until July.

Growth in regional trade

Closer to home, Uruguay has also become a new destination for Paraguayan products. The neighbouring country recently received its first shipments of safflower oil. This demonstrates a growing trade relationship within the South American continent.

In the industrial sector, modular electric containers were exported to Uruguay. In a separate development, aluminium electrical conductors reached Guyana for the first time, signalling an expansion of trade into new parts of South America.

European presence grows

Paraguayan exports have also gained new ground in Europe. Achievements recorded in the first seven months of 2026 include the addition of Ukraine as a new market for salted bovine casings. Additionally, wood veneers have successfully entered the Swedish market.

These successes reflect the ability of various Paraguayan productive sectors to expand and diversify their export destinations across the European continent. According to the MIC, the criteria for a “new product-destination export case” involve shipments exceeding US$50,000 during 2026, where no exports of that value had been registered between 2019 and 2025. This allows officials to identify significant new markets and distinguish them from smaller-scale commercial operations.
