Students and teachers will soon be able to access a free online English course launched by American Spaces Paraguay as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of US Independence. The virtual programme, called Across America, combines English language learning with a journey through US culture, history, and values. The first course, Across America A1 – The Road Trip, will begin on 14 July 2026. The programme is aimed at beginners aged 15 and above.
Learning English through culture
The programme is part of Freedom 250, an initiative commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Independence of the United States. It is organised by American Spaces Paraguay together with the Margaret Knight American Corner. Through a fully online and asynchronous format, participants will be able to access course materials from anywhere.
The free online English course will focus on the four main skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It will also include interactive activities and cultural content designed to help students understand American society, traditions, and values. Those who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of participation. The initiative is open to anybody who wishes to strengthen their English skills and expand their academic and professional opportunities.
Continuing the learning journey
Participants who complete Across America A1 – The Road Trip and meet the programme requirements will have the opportunity to continue with Across America A2 – Stories of American Innovators, which is expected to begin in October 2026. The second course will introduce students to the stories of prominent American innovators while helping them develop more advanced English skills. Learners will explore themes such as curiosity, creativity, service, and perseverance.
The initiative aims to make English learning more accessible in Paraguay while promoting cultural exchange through education. By combining language development with knowledge about the United States, the programme offers participants a broader learning experience beyond traditional classroom methods.
Registrations for Across America A1 – The Road Trip are currently open in the form, with the course starting on 14 July 2026. Interested participants can join the free programme and begin their virtual journey across the United States while developing their English abilities.
