First National Badminton Tournament Of 2026 Set To Open Season In Asunción

The first Paraguayan national badminton tournament of 2026 will take place on 21 and 22 of March. This tournament officially opens the national badminton calendar. The first national badminton tournament brings together 132 athletes from across the country for a competitive and developmental tournament.

Recent international results reflect this progress. At the I Junior International of Havana 2026, Paraguayan players Sofía and Paula Rodas secured podium finishes.

Sofía won a bronze medal in the women’s singles under-19 category, while Paula obtained a silver medal. Together, they also earned a bronze medal in women’s doubles, highlighting the growing competitiveness of Paraguayan badminton.

The 250 matches will cover different categories and modalities across the two days, including male and female singles, male and female doubles, and mixed doubles.

Categories include ages from sub-9 to sub-19. Sub-19 is called juniors category. Additionally, there will be open divisions based on skill level (P, C, B and A), as well as senior categories for players aged 35+, 42+ and 50+. Consequently, this broad structure allows athletes of different ages and levels to participate, reinforcing long-term development within the sport.
