Asu Paste Up Sound 2026 Brings Street Art And Music To Asunción

Asunción’s independent art scene takes to the streets this November with the first edition of Asu Paste Up Sound 2026. Running until Sunday, 8 November, the initiative combines street art, screen printing and music to transform underused walls into open-air exhibitions. The event brings together local and international artists, cultural organisers and participants through workshops, urban interventions and a musical gathering across the capital.

Organised around the idea of bringing artistic expression into public spaces, the initiative uses the paste-up technique to display illustrations, photographs, collages and texts on urban surfaces. The programme includes activities in downtown Asuncion, first at Crudo, located at Caballero 793, followed by a collective street art circuit. A musical gathering is also scheduled.

The event began with a screen printing workshop led by Argentine artist Juan Britos. Originally from the Chaco region, Britos is a draughtsman, painter and screen printer. Britos also promotes La Fiesta del Papel (The Paper Festival), an international festival bringing together more than 50 artists worldwide.

His work includes street graphics and public interventions across Latin America. Through screen printing and paste-up, he brings artistic expression beyond conventional exhibition spaces.

A collective urban art circuit

Activities continue on Sunday, 8 November, with the production of additional printed materials, followed by a circuit of urban interventions. Guided by José Caballero, known as Conector Sonoro, the route covers four intervention points across Asunción. The circuit is organised in coordination with the cultural spaces supporting the initiative: Alcira Roga, Crudo and Estero. These locations serve as meeting points for artists and participants involved in the project.

The proposal seeks to bring artistic expression closer to people who encounter these spaces as part of their daily routines. By transforming familiar urban surroundings, the initiative creates opportunities for cultural participation beyond traditional galleries and exhibition venues.

Music and participation

The Asu Paste Up Sound 2026 programme also includes a musical gathering at Estero, located at Elvio Romero, featuring DJs Nomad Radio from Spain and Faydel from Argentina. Paraguayan artists María Jaguata and Conector Sonoro are also part of the line-up. A live set by Moisés MX6 is scheduled, with additional artists expected to join.

Those interested in participating can contact the organisers at +595 971 909 399 for further information. The participation fee is ₲150,000 (approximately US$25) and includes materials, the urban art circuit and access to the music event. Those wishing to attend the party separately can make a suggested contribution of ₲20,000 (approximately US$3).
