Paraguay’s Flaming Lights Up Europe With Back-To-Back Javelin Golds

Paraguayan javelin thrower Lars Anthony Flaming continues his impressive run on the international athletics circui during the 2026 season, with back-to-back javelin golds in Germany and France. The 23-year-old athlete first triumphed at the Internationales Sparkassenmeeting Osterode, a World Athletics Continental Tour event in Germany on 5 June.

Continuing the streak of success, he claimed a second top spot at the National Meeting Strasbourg in France on 6 June. The victories culminated in consecutive gold medals for Flaming.

Gold in Germany

Flaming placed first on the podium at the Internationales Sparkassenmeeting Osterode, a World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger event. The competition was held at the Jahnstadion, a multi-sport complex, in Osterode am Harz, Germany. Flaming produced a winning throw of 78.28 metres, claiming the gold medal. He placed ahead of Germany’s Nick Thumm, who finished second with a throw of 76.88 metres, and Egypt’s Hussein Ahmed Sameh Mohamed, who finished third with 74.47 metres.

His victory in Osterode earned him a place at the National Meeting Strasbourg in France the day after, providing another opportunity to compete in an international field.

Consecutive victory in France

Flaming achieved another gold medal in Strasbourg 2026, an annual, outdoor track-and-field athletics competition held at the Stade d’Athlétisme Hautepierre stadium in Strasbourg, France.

Representing Paraguay, Flaming won the men’s javelin competition with a throw of 77.76 metres. Egypt’s Hussein Ahmed Sameh Mohamed claimed the silver medal with 74.40 metres, while Germany’s Amie Labdi completed the podium in third place with 67.56 metres.

The result marked Paraguay’s second international javelin gold medal through Flaming in a matter of days and further strengthened his standing on the European athletics circuit.

Continuing his strong form

The victories in Germany and France follow a period of consistent performances for the Paraguayan thrower. Earlier in 2026, Flaming earned a silver medal at the 51st Halplus Werfertage Continental Tour in Halle, Germany, with a javelin distance of 81.19 metres.

Flaming’s gold-medal performances in Osterode and Strasbourg mark the latest achievements in a career that continues to gather momentum.
