D’Alepo Cocina: Flavour Of The World In Villa Morra

Each week, Tommy-Maurice is going to a different restaurant in Asunción. This week, he has been to D’Alepo Cocina, a great Middle Eastern and Italian restaurant in Barrio Villa Morra.

Nestled in the heart of Villa Morra, D’Alepo Cocina offers a unique dining experience that celebrates the intersection of Middle Eastern, Italian, and Paraguayan culinary traditions. This innovative restaurant is a reflection of the rich cultural heritage of its owner, Andrés, who has family from all these places. Not only does the restaurant honour its Middle Eastern roots, but it also blends in the tastes of Italy and Paraguay, making it one of the city’s most eclectic and exciting dining experiences. D’ is for Italy, Alepo is for the Middle East, and Cocina is for Paraguay. With an establishment with all these interesting cuisines in one kitchen, it is indeed a place people should try!

D’Alepo Cocina‘s inspiration

Middle Eastern specialties such as falafel, kibbe, and sfija take centre stage on the menu, offering a tantalising introduction to the flavours of Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine. The kibbe, a dish made of minced meat and bulgur, is expertly prepared, showcasing a blend of spices and fresh ingredients that make it a standout. Similarly, the sfija is a true crowd-pleaser with its delicate crispy dough filled with savoury ingredients. For those who crave the flavours of the Levant, D’Alepo Cocina offers an authentic taste rarely found in Asunción. Furthermore, it does not stop at Middle Eastern cuisine.

The restaurant also offers an array of Italian favourites, including pasta, seafood platters, and fresh salads. The Italian influence is evident in the carefully crafted pasta dishes, made with a perfect balance of fresh ingredients and bold flavours. The Paraguayan element of the menu brings a sense of local pride to the dining experience. Traditional Paraguayan dishes, such as hearty rice plates, meats, and stews, are infused with the flavours of the region. From juicy grilled meats to refreshing salads, the Paraguayan dishes provide a comforting and familiar contrast to the bold, exotic flavours of the Middle Eastern and Italian offerings. Whether you are craving classic Italian pasta, Middle Eastern falafel, or a traditional Paraguayan meal, D’Alepo Cocina has something to satisfy every taste.

D’Alepo Cocina Menu

I took four kibbe and one sfija, and it was excellent. I had eaten Middle Eastern food before, but never this, and I was incredibly surprised. People might think sfijas are Middle Eastern empanadas. Maybe. It is still up for debate. Sfijas tend to have a thicker dough and are often open or round. In comparison, empanadas have a thinner dough and are folded into a half-moon shape, with a greater variety of fillings, especially in Latin American countries. I recommend trying if you have never eaten that before!

Arabian Night Buffet In April

In early April, D’Alepo Cocina will be hosting its much-anticipated Arabian Night Buffet, an exciting event where guests can indulge in a variety of authentic Middle Eastern dishes served in a stunning buffet setting. This event is the perfect way to experience the rich flavours of Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine, all in one place. If you love Arabian cuisine and want to enjoy a communal dining experience, do not miss this event, which happens one time per month.

Top-Notch Service And Beautiful Atmosphere

Whether you are looking to explore authentic Middle Eastern flavours, indulge in comforting Paraguayan meals, or enjoy delicious Italian pasta, the restaurant is the place to be.
