British extreme metal band Carcass will perform in Paraguay for the first time on 30 November 2026 at Absoluto Rock Bar. The venue is located at Herrera 163, near Fulgencio Yegros in downtown Asunción. Bringing nearly four decades of extreme metal to a Paraguayan audience, the concert forms part of the band’s South American tour. The show is scheduled to begin at 21:00.
Carcass is known for combining extreme metal intensity with technical guitar work and melodic elements. Formed in Liverpool in the mid-1980s, the band has become an influential name within extreme metal.
What Carcass will bring to Paraguay
Its early records, including Reek of Putrefaction (1988) and Symphonies of Sickness (1989), helped establish the band within the grindcore scene. These releases became closely associated with the development of the genre during the late 1980s.
Over time, the band’s sound evolved towards a more technical and melodic approach. Necroticism – Descanting the Insalubrious (1991) marked an important stage in that evolution, while Heartwork (1993) became one of the group’s most recognised albums.
Carcass later returned to recording after an extended break, releasing Surgical Steel in 2013. Its most recent studio album, Torn Arteries, followed in 2021, continuing the combination of heavy and melodic elements associated with the band’s later work.
For the Asunción concert, organisers have indicated that the band will draw from different periods of its catalogue, combining recent material with classic songs from its career.
Current line-up
Founding members Jeff Walker and Bill Steer remain part of the current line-up. Walker handles bass and vocals, while Steer plays guitar and also provides vocals. Daniel Wilding plays drums, with James “Nippy” Blackford completing the touring group on guitar. Together, the current line-up represents both the band’s original history and its more recent period.
The concert will mark Carcass’ first performance in Paraguay, allowing local metal fans to see a band whose career has extended from the early grindcore scene to modern extreme metal. The concert will have limited capacity, with tickets priced at ₲459,000 (approximately US$77). Tickets are available through Tuti and at the venue.
