Paraguayan visual artist and painter Verónica Melgarejo present her first solo exhibition, El Jardín de Beatriz (Beatriz ‘s Garden). The exhibition opened on 11 September, 2026, at the Miguel Acevedo space and will remain open until October. The venue forms part of the Centro Cultural Manzana de la Rivera (Manzana de la Rivera Cultural Centre). Located at Ayolas and Benjamín Constant, the exhibition will remain open through October 2026. Admission is free.
The exhibition brings together Melgarejo’s recent works across three different formats. Visitors will find paintings, silk pieces and an installation throughout the exhibition. Through these works, the artist explores connections between nature and memory. Additionally, her artistic world draws on gardens associated with personal memories alongside urban environments.
A multidisciplinary artistic background
Melgarejo began exploring the arts from an early age through dance and piano lessons. Later, her creative interest’s expanded into acting, writing, watercolour and silk painting. She also completed independent courses in creative painting and other artistic disciplines. These experiences have contributed to the varied approach visible throughout her visual arts practice.
Her academic background mixes the visual arts with several other areas of study. Melgarejo graduated from the American School of Asunción. She then studied Visual Arts at the Instituto Superior de Arte (Higher Institute of Art) within FADA/UNA. Furthermore, she currently works towards completing her thesis. Additionally, she holds degrees in psychology, public English translation and English teaching.
Between gardens and memories
El Jardín de Beatriz centres on the relationship between remembered spaces and the natural world. Melgarejo presents these ideas through paintings, silk works and installation rather than one single medium. As visitors move through the exhibition, the different formats offer several perspectives on her artistic themes. Nature and memory remain central throughout the collection.
The exhibition also represents a significant step in Melgarejo’s development as an artist. Her first solo presentation brings recent works together within a single exhibition space. Her previous artistic experiences include performance, writing and several forms of painting. She currently continues her artistic development through Taller Crearte (Crearte Workshop) at Club Centenario.
