The historic centre of Asunción will once again transform into a vibrant international gathering space. The second edition of the Palmear “Without Borders” Fair will take place on 30 May 2026 from 11:00 to 23:00. Held along the iconic Palma Street, the event will bring together migrant communities, artists, entrepreneurs, and visitors for a day. Following the success of last year’s first edition, organisers hope the fair will continue strengthening its role as one of the capital’s most inclusive cultural celebrations.
The initiative forms part of the broader Palmear movement, which has helped restore Palma Street as a lively civic and cultural meeting point in recent years. Organisers say the fair has evolved beyond a traditional street market into one of the capital’s most important urban cultural events.
One street, many cultures
The 2026 edition will feature around 16 foreign communities presenting traditional foods, and artistic expressions from around the world. Participating countries include Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay. Also, Korea, Lebanon, Taiwan, Italy, Belgium, Croatia, France, Russia, Türkiye, and Paraguay. Visitors will be able to sample dishes ranging from Bolivian salteña empanadas and Brazilian feijoada to Mexican tacos, Peruvian ceviche, and Lebanese kibbeh. Paraguayan favourites such as sopa paraguaya, vori vori, and asado will also be featured throughout the fair.
The cultural programme will include K-pop performances, Uruguayan candombe, traditional folk dances, and Taiwan’s Lion Dance. Colombia is expected to present cumbia performances, while several European communities will showcase traditional dances and cultural exhibitions. As in previous editions, the fair will also serve as a platform for artisans and small entrepreneurs.

A celebration of migration and community
The fair is organised by the Office of the First Lady, the National Directorate of Migration, and the Association for the Revitalisation of Asunción’s Historic Centre (AMCHA). Additionally, with support from institutions including Senatur, the Ministry of the Interior, the National Police, and the Municipality of Asunción.
The event also serves as a prelude to National Immigrant Week, celebrated annually during the first week of June. Organisers describe the initiative as a tribute to the generations of immigrants who contributed to Paraguay’s cultural and economic development over the years. For many residents and visitors, Palmear “Without Borders” has become more than a fair. It is now a symbol of cultural dialogue, inclusion, and the growing effort to reconnect people with the streets, traditions, and communities that shape modern Paraguay.
