Paraguay’s Under-15 handball team has been crowned champions of the South and Central American Women’s Cadet Handball Championship. The national side secured the title after a memorable final against Argentina in Asunción. The closely contested match, held at the Paraguayan Olympic Committee Arena, ended with a 27-24 victory for the host nation, who then were crowned Under-15 Women’s handball champions.
Under the guidance of Rodrigo Rojas, the Paraguayan girls produced an outstanding campaign, showing real character, talent and a true champion’s spirit. Tiziana Devaca and Nicole Parra shone as the standout figures in a squad that fought right to the last ball to take Paraguay to the very top of the continent.
The win marked the culmination of a perfect tournament for the Paraguayan squad. Under the guidance Rojas, the team won all five of their matches. The final was played before a large and supportive crowd, celebrating a huge achievement for the country’s emerging handball talent.
An undefeated campaign
Throughout the competition, the Paraguayan team displayed remarkable character, skill, and determination. Their performance was characterised by a strong team spirit, fighting for every point to secure their place at the top of the continental rankings. The victory reflects a successful run in the Under-15 tournament organised by the South and Central America Handball Confederation (SCAHC).
Following the final, the tournament podium was completed with Argentina taking the silver medal and Uruguay securing third place. The success follows Paraguay’s Under-20 Women’s bronze medal at the Sur Centro SCA Championship in Asunción earlier this year.
Standout individual performances
Several players delivered exceptional performances during the Under-15 tournament. Tiziana Devaca and Nicole Parra were particularly influential figures for the championship-winning team, leading the charge in critical moments of the final match.
Furthermore, Devaca’s contribution was officially recognised as she was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP). She was also the top scorer in the final against Argentina, netting an impressive 12 goals.
Paraguay Under-13 reigns once again
Days earlier, Paraguay Under-13 also wrote another golden page in the history books by defeating Brazil and clinching the title of five-time champions of the South American Under-13 Women’s Championship. This tournament was also held at the Paraguayan Olympic Committee Arena.
The side coached by Wilson Alfonso produced an outstanding campaign, showing a high standard of play, real character and total commitment to claim the continental crown once more and put the country right at the top. The final score against Brazil was 28-23.
