The Caaguazú futsal team has triumphantly secured its fourth national championship title. Playing in front of a capacity home crowd, the team delivered a strong performance to cap an undefeated tournament run. In the final and decisive match of the championship’s final stage, Caaguazú defeated Paranaense by a convincing 4-1. The Paraguayan futsal champions victory sparked widespread celebrations throughout the city, which is affectionately known as the “city of wood.”
Their journey through the final four-team round, known as the cuadrangular final, was flawless. Before their decisive victory over Paranaense, the Caaguazú side had already recorded a 4-0 victory against Caacupé and followed it with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Villa Hayes, setting the stage for their ultimate triumph.

A dominant and undefeated campaign
Throughout the competition, players such as Diego Flores, Paulo Rodríguez, and Daniel Benítez consistently delivered exceptional performances. Their skill, leadership, and crucial goals were a driving force behind the team’s campaign.
The support of the home crowd was also a significant factor in their victory. The tournament mobilised a substantial number of spectators, with local fans filling the stadium for every match to cheer on their team, known as the Madereros (the Woodcutters).
’17 years of waiting. An entire city that never stopped believing. These were not just matches, these were battles’, wrote Caaguazú futsal on Instagram. ‘After so long, the generation arrived that understood what this jersey means. Young men who transformed pressure into glory and tears into the most sacred cry: CAAGUAZÚ NATIONAL CHAMPIONS 2026.’
Historic victory on home soil
The Paraguayan futsal champions triumph marks the fourth national crown for Caaguazú in its history. The team’s first national championship came in 1981, which they won in the city of Coronel Oviedo. Following that, they secured titles in 1998 and 2009, with both of those victories, like the current one, achieved on home turf.
For the team’s celebrated coach, Andrés “Pate” Bogado, this championship is the fifth national title of his coaching career. Before leading Caaguazú to glory, Bogado had already established his credentials by guiding the Presidente Franco team to four separate national championships. This cemented his status as one of the most successful coaches in the history of Paraguayan fútbol de salón (futsal).
Final standings and tournament impact
With this victory, Caaguazú strengthens its position in the annals of the national championship. The all-time leaderboard is currently headed by Presidente Franco, who boast an impressive 12 titles. Just behind them are Paranaense and Amambay, both with 10 championships each. Caaguazú now sits in third place of successful clubs, with this fourth title underscoring their status as a major force in the sport.
The second position in this year’s tournament was secured by Villa Hayes. They confirmed their runner-up status in the final round of matches with a dominant performance of their own. In their concluding game, Villa Hayes defeated Caacupé with a decisive 4-0 victory. This strong finish ensured they were recognised as the second-best team in a highly competitive national event, concluding a successful campaign for their side.
