Over 24,000 Visitors Already Enjoyed The Christmas Village In Ciudad Del Este

Over 24,000 people already visited the Christmas Village in the city of Ciudad del Este. They sang and danced along with their favourite music acts and enjoyed the various themed family zones. The 2025 Christmas Village, sponsored by the Itaipú Binational Entity, is running until 20 December in the Linear Park of Ciudad del Este.

The event brings together gastronomy, crafts, musical performances, and themed areas designed for the whole family. The Paraguayan Director-General, Justo Zacarías Irún, and Deputy Rocío Abed, toured the food and craft stalls and spoke with the vendors.

Crafts like ñanduti, poyvi, and ao po’i

This event features vendors selected by the Council for the Development of the East (Codeleste), including local artisans, chefs, and creators. A total of 54 entrepreneurs were chosen, comprising 20 from the crafts sector and 34 from the gastronomy sector. This represents a fantastic economic opportunity for the vendors during the festive season.

The artisans are showcasing leather, clay, wood, iron, and thread crafts (such as ñanduti, poyvi, and ao po’i). Alongside those crafts, there are Christmas decorations and various handmade goods. Meanwhile, the food area offers traditional Paraguayan cuisine like chipa guazú and sopa paraguaya. Available as well was grilled meats (churrascos), burgers, lomitos, sandwiches, pizzas, sweets, and a variety of other dishes.

Artistic performances at the Christmas Village

In addition to the entrepreneurs’ market, the Christmas Village offers an extensive arts calendar. The event is featuring over 30 national artists and one international group. They will be livening up the evenings from 19:00 onwards.

The programme continued on Monday 15 December with the National Police Jazz Band. The Cumbre Bohemia, and the Talento de Barrio also performed. From 16 to 19 December the stage hosts Improband, Yoryi Torales, Rumberos, Grupo Herencia, Bohemia Guaraní, Bohemia Urbana, Paiko, Salamandra, and Marilina.

The closing night, scheduled for Saturday 20 December, will feature a performance of “The Nutcracker” by the Municipal Classical and Modern Ballet of Asunción. Also there will be a set by Las Paraguayas, Qmbia Juan, and Retroband, bringing nine days of celebration to a close.

A safe, free, and family-friendly space

The Christmas Village is thus re-establishing itself as a safe, free, and family-friendly space where entertainment, culture, and support for local talent converge. Thanks to the free infrastructure provided to entrepreneurs, the event is an excellent platform for boosting the regional economy in the run-up to the New Year’s festivities. In between 7,000 and 10,000 people visit each evening.

The Christmas Village opening took place on Friday 12 December and included the lighting of the tree and the official opening of the themed areas. During the night, there were performances from the National Popular Music Orchestra (ONAMP), Los Paredes, and Juan Cancio. Milena Lujan, Alyssa, Melissa Hicks, and Vicky Díaz, also participated. A fireworks display closed the night.
