Paraguay’s Team for ‘Asunción 2025’, the Pan-American Junior Games, is set to be the largest in recorded history! The Team will comprise 333 athletes, supported by around 70 officials and coaches, during the upcoming major sporting event hosted by Asunción in August this year.
‘Asunción 2025’ will feature more than 4,200 athletes from 41 countries. Some of the sports and disciplines taking place in Paraguay’s capital city include athletics, swimming, cycling, 3×3 and 5×5 basketball, hockey, rugby, golf, and water skiing, among others.
The Pan American Junior Games Asunción 2025 is a major multi-sport event bringing together young athletes aged between 14 and 22 from across the Americas, from 9 to 23 August.
Following its successful debut in Cali, Colombia, this second edition offers a vital platform for the development of future sports stars, fostering high-level competition and cultural exchange among the participating nations.
Asunción will become the epicentre of youth Pan-American sport, providing an unparalleled stage for these talented athletes to showcase their potential.
Paraguay’s Team of young athletes
“We want to surpass our performance at the first Pan American Junior Games in Cali 2021, where we won 15 medals,” declared Gabriela Mosqueira, head of mission for the Paraguayan team, during an interview on the ‘Tribuna’ programme on Paraguay TV.
Mosquiera explained that the last edition in 2021, marked by pandemic restrictions, served as a valuable starting point. Now, with the enthusiasm of the local crowd on their side, Paraguay’s team of young athletes aims to leave a greater mark.
Paraguay’s head of mission emphasised that preparations are continuing at full speed, and the hopes of the entire country are pinned on these young talents who promise to shine at home.
