7th Latin American Folklore Gathering Brings Artists From 13 Countries To Paraguay

Paraguay will host the 7th Latin American Folklore Gathering (7º Encuentro Latinoamericano del Folclore) from 6 to 11 October 2026. The international festival will bring cultural and artistic activities to San Lorenzo, Asunción and Fernando de la Mora. The gathering will feature artists from 13 countries across the Americas, Europe and Africa, including around 750 international participants.

Organised by the Asociación Folclórica Latinoamericana (Latin American Folkloric Association, AFLA), the event aims to promote cultural exchange and strengthen ties between participating communities. In July, Paraguay’s Chamber of Deputies declared the seventh edition of the gathering an event of cultural interest.

Free performances for the public

Several performances during the gathering will be open to the general public and free of charge. On Wednesday, 7 October, the programme will begin at 15:00 at the Municipal Theatre in San Lorenzo. The venue is located near the intersection of San Lorenzo and Coronel Romero streets, opposite the municipal building.

On Thursday, 8 October, performances will begin at 16:00 at the José Asunción Flores Theatre of the Central Bank of Paraguay. The theatre is located on Federación Rusa, at the corner of Cabo 1° Marecos, in Asunción.

The public programme will continue on Friday, 9 October, at 15:00 at the Municipal Theatre in Fernando de la Mora. The venue is located on Capitán Montiel, between Mariscal Estigarribia Avenue and Julia Miranda Cueto.

13 countries at the 7th Latin American Folklore Gathering

Representatives from Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Panama, Uruguay, Mexico, Honduras, Ukraine, Cameroon and Mali are expected to participate. In addition to folk dance and music performances, participating delegations will take part in cultural exchanges and social activities. The wider programme also includes official ceremonies, tours and visits to local educational institutions.
