Paraguayan driver Joshua Dürksen will begin a new chapter in his racing career after being confirmed as a Hitech Grand Prix driver for the 2027 FIA Formula 2 season. The move will see the Mercedes development driver join the British outfit for what will be his fourth year in the championship.
Dürksen is the first driver to be announced by the Silverstone-based team for the upcoming 2027 season. He made his debut in the Formula 1 feeder series in 2024 and has since established himself as a competitive force on the grid. Earlier this season, Dürksen made history with a double Formula 2 victory at Monza, Italy.
A new challenge
The Paraguayan driver expressed his enthusiasm about the move, highlighting Hitech’s strong reputation within the paddock. The team has consistently been a front-runner since joining the F2 grid in 2020.
“I am incredibly excited to join Hitech for the 2027 Formula 2 season. Hitech has demonstrated for many years to be one of the strongest teams in Formula 2 and I am very proud to have the opportunity to race with them.”
Currently in his third season, Dürksen has accumulated an impressive record of eight victories and 16 podium finishes in the championship. He stated that his objective with the new team is to continue his upward trajectory: “I want to continue progressing, to keep fighting for victories and the best possible results at all circuits,” Dürksen added.
Hitech on Dürksen’s arrival
Hitech Grand Prix praised the driver’s development and his ability to perform under pressure. The team noted his proven race-winning capabilities as a key factor in the decision.
“He is a proven winner of Formula 2 races and we have seen first-hand from the pit wall the speed and the race craft that he brings,” said Jan Sumann, Hitech’s F2 Head of Race Engineering.
A team with a strong pedigree
Hitech Grand Prix was founded in 2015 and has built a strong presence in several junior motorsport categories. In addition to Formula 2, the team competes in Formula 3, GB3, British Formula 4, and the F1 Academy.
The team is recognised for its role in developing young drivers aiming for Formula 1. Over the years, Hitech has worked with drivers linked to F1 development programmes, including George Russell, who raced for the team in 2016.
Hitech Grand Prix entered the F2 championship in 2020 and has since become a key competitor. In 2025, Hitech finished second in the constructors’ championship, just behind Invicta Racing, marking its most successful season to date. The team has also maintained a strategic alliance with Toyota Gazoo Racing since 2025.
