Derlys Ayala and María Fátima Vázquez climbed the podium in the South American Marathon Championship, played alongside the Buenos Aires Marathon on Sunday 22.
Ayala completed the podium led by Ulises Ambrosio of Peru and Nacho Erario of Argentina. The Paraguayan won third place with a race of 02:18:43.
While Vázquez took the silver medal in the women’s category with a time of 02:44:19, behind Chiara Mainett of Argentina.
The Buenos Aires Marathon brought together 14,500 runners. The winner of the competition was Kenyan Betwell Yegon with a time of 02:09:04 for the 42 kilometers of race.
