People from every corner of the globe are drawn to Asunción, where Paraguay’s laid-back capital has quietly become a melting pot of cultures, ideas, and ambition. Each Tuesday evening from 18:00 to 21:00, digital nomads, expats, and friendly locals come together at the ever-popular English networking event organised by The Asunción Times.
Held in a different charming bar or restaurant across the city every other week, these gatherings offer the perfect blend of Paraguayan warmth and international energy. In this People of Asunción series, we introduce the inspiring individuals who make this scene so uniquely alive. In #24, Enzo Ferreira from Paraguay.

Meet Enzo Ferreira
Enzo Ferreira (24) is from Asunción and currently lives in San Lorenzo, near Paraguay’s captial. He works as a broker and commission analyst, and also as a rug artisan, while developing his own brand.
What is your favourite place in Asunción, and why?
“Right now, one of my favourite places is Ferretería Pacífico, even if it can be quite full sometimes. Moco Bar is also a great place. My favourite places are where I can go with friends and meet new people, but I like going to familiar places where I can socialise and have a good time. I would say that my favorite places, in general, are places where you can have good experiences in good company. So you could say that I am drawn to chasing experiences more than places. But there are also many new places opening up all the time, a lot of variety of bars and restaurants that you could not find here before.”
What is your favourite place outside of Asunción, and why?
“I really enjoy going to the city of Ciudad del Este. Their prices are unmatched. They have everything and anything you are looking for. There is also a really cool bar there called Distrito Brewing Co., where they have a beer that is a fusion of wine and beer, and it is just the perfect combination of flavours.”
What do you love most about Paraguay?
“I think what I love most about Paraguay is the people. You can find kind, warm-hearted people in every corner of this country, and I know that this is not something you can find everywhere else in the world.”
If you were to move away tomorrow, what would you absolutely take with you from Paraguay?
“I am a huge fan of mbejú, and I would definitely have to learn the recipe or find a good one to take with me. There is nothing I would miss as much as the food.”

What else can you tell us about your activities and lifestyle in Paraguay?
“I am a student, work as a commission analyst, go to the gym, and surprisingly, I make rugs. It can sound a bit strange, but I started watching videos of people making them on social media, and I just dared to try it out. I bought the needle gun where you insert the yarn, and I just started making them with designs from projectors. It is a time-consuming, tedious process, but the result is very satisfying. The value of handmade items is often underestimated. A friend’s birthday is coming up, and I will gift him a Pokémon rug that I made, and I also take commissions from anyone who contacts me through Instagram.”
