Football fans from Argentina arrive for the Supercopa final

Thousands Of Argentine Football Fans Arrive In Asunción For The Supercopa Final

Fans of River Plate and Atlético Talleres de Córdoba football clubs are beginning to arrive in Paraguay to watch the final of the Supercopa Internacional of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), which will be played this Wednesday, March 5, at 8:00 p.m., at the Nueva Olla Stadium in Asunción.

For this large-scale international event, the institutions responsible for security and entry into the country are “working hard to guarantee a new sports festival, raising the image of Paraguay as the host country”.

The National Directorate of Migration reported that all controls are in place to ensure the smooth entry of fans arriving in the country to watch this grand Supercopa final of Argentine soccer, described by the Argentine football association as “one of the most important championships in the world”.

So far, 2,100 Argentine fans have entered Paraguayan territory through the land border crossings of Encarnación and Puerto Faltón.

Nine fans have been banned from attending sporting events and were not allowed at the border for security reasons. “More fans are expected to arrive during the day to participate in this international event,” said Migrations on its social networks.

Security forces coordinate on safety for the Supercopa

The country’s security forces are also coordinating tasks to bring this great sporting event to a successful conclusion.

The top officials of the National Police held a working meeting to fine-tune every detail related to the safety of River Plate and Atlético Talleres de Córdoba fans, as well as that of Paraguayan citizens.

The preparatory meeting was headed by the Deputy Commander of the National Police, Crio. Gen. Dtor. Ramón Javier Morales Ojeda; the Director of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation, Crio. Gen. Dtor. Cesar Silguero Lobos; the Director of the General Directorate of Prevention and Security, Crio. Gen. Dtor. Omar Méndez Casco; and other police chiefs.

Following the provisions of the Traffic Police of the Municipality of Asunción, some zones have been established for fans of both Argentine teams competing in the Supercopa final. For River fans it will be on the Costanera Norte; and for Talleres fans, the Costanera Sur.

In this way, Paraguay is once again in the spotlight of international football, with the realisation of the AFA Super Cup.

Paraguay has ambitious plans to host an ever-increasing number of large international events after recent successes, including the Latin American Special Olympic Games and the World Padel Tour. Later this year, Paraguay will host the World Rally Championship and the Junior Pan American Games.
