The Museum of Sciences (MuCi) has launched its July 2026 programme, offering guided tours of its future headquarters, winter holiday activities, astronomy workshops, and free outdoor science experiences in Asunción. Events will take place at the Textilia complex and the museum’s future site on the Costanera. While many activities focus on children during the winter school break, the programme also includes opportunities for adults interested in architecture, engineering, and environmental sciences. Several events are free, while others require advance registration.
Paraguay’s future science museum

One of the month’s main attractions is a guided tour of MuCi’s future science museum, currently under construction on Asunción’s Costanera. Participants will explore the building site while learning about the technical aspects of the project and the construction methods being used. The tours will be led by architect María Amalia Brítez, a member of the MuCi team. Although designed for professionals and university students, they are also open to adults interested in architecture, museum design, and engineering.
The activity is restricted to visitors aged 18 and over. Tours will take place on 25 July from 09:00 to 10:30. Tickets cost ₲20,000 (approximately US$3) and require prior registration through MuCi’s website.
Winter holiday activities
Most of the holiday programmes are at the Textilia complex, home to San Cosmos, Paraguay’s first digital planetarium. In partnership with Conacyt, MuCi will offer a winter holiday camp from 14 to 17 July. During those four days, visitors can enjoy free access to immersive audiovisual shows exploring astronomy, nature and prehistoric life. The programme includes shows about the Solar System, Mars, stars, dinosaurs, and the zodiac. It also features a sensory-friendly “Quiet Hour” session designed specifically for neurodivergent visitors.
Planetarium sessions will run every hour, with morning schedules on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Thursdays and Fridays will include both morning and afternoon sessions, while weekend screenings will be held during the afternoon. Registration for the holiday camp will be announced through MuCi’s social media channels.
Young people aged 10 and above can also enrol in Astro School. The educational programme combines interactive lessons with practical activities. The planetarium will transform into a digital classroom where participants can deepen their understanding of the universe. Sessions will take place on five dates throughout July, with places limited to 30 participants.

Free science activities for all ages
Alongside its paid events, MuCi will host several free activities encouraging visitors to engage with science and nature. Ciencia a cielo abierto (Science Under The Open Sky) offers a self-guided experience through the museum’s bio-pond, themed gardens, and interactive trails.

The July programme also includes a Reading Club, where participants aged 16 and above are invited to read together before joining a group discussion. Astronomy enthusiasts can attend a free Moon Observation evening using the MuCiTron telescope. While the Po Prendé activity introduces visitors to medicinal, aromatic, and ornamental plants.
Weekly programming also features Peces eléctricos en el Bioestante (Electric Fish In The Bio-Pond), exploring the adaptations of species found in Paraguay’s rivers and wetlands. Meanwhile, Sábado Porã combines birdwatching with an introduction to native plants growing within the museum grounds.
Creativity meets science
The programme concludes with workshops blending science, art, and technology. On 24 July, the Club del Bordado: bordando plantas (Embroidery Club: Stitching Plants) workshop will invite participants to create embroidery inspired by the textures and shapes of the themed gardens.
Families can also participate in the Carrera de Rovercitos (Little Rover Race) on 26 July. During the workshop, participants will build small robotic rovers from recycled materials before testing them in a friendly competition. By combining astronomy, engineering, environmental education, and creative activities, MuCi aims to make science accessible to visitors of all ages during Paraguay’s winter holidays.
