The acclaimed musical group Néstor Ló y Los Caminantes has been officially distinguished as a Country Brand Ambassador for Paraguay. This honour was bestowed by Paraguay’s Vice Ministry of Rediex, an agency operating under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC). The recognition celebrates the band’s extensive artistic career and their pivotal role in spreading contemporary Paraguayan folklore to a wider audience.
This appointment comes as the group prepares to embark on its first major tour of Europe, carrying their nation’s cultural identity to new international stages. Recently, Néstor Ló Y Los Caminantes received the International Album of the Year Award.
Promoting Paraguay’s values, traditions, and artistic heritage
The ambassadorship acknowledges the dedication and impact the group has had over the years. By formally representing Marca País Paraguay, the band now carries an official mandate to promote the nation’s values, traditions, and artistic heritage through their music. This role is crucial for strengthening Paraguay’s image abroad, showcasing a vibrant and modern cultural scene that is deeply rooted in tradition.
The Vice Ministry of Rediex specifically highlighted the group’s unique contribution to the national music landscape as a key reason for the distinction.
A mission to represent Paraguayan culture
Néstor López, the vocalist for the group, expressed immense pride in receiving the honour. He spoke about the band’s long journey and their commitment to celebrating Paraguayan culture in all its forms. The recognition serves as a culmination of nearly a decade of dedicated work and artistic exploration. López emphasised that this new role provides a powerful platform to share the country’s unique musical traditions with the world, particularly the guarania, a traditional Paraguayan style of music.
“After almost 10 years of work, we finally have the opportunity to represent the guarania internationally, recognised by UNESCO, which invited us to take our show to Lithuania. We defend our music, dance, and craftsmanship, and it is an honour to carry our country’s flag,” he stated.
López’s statement underscores the group’s holistic approach to their cultural mission. Their performances are not just about music but are a celebration of Paraguay’s broader artistic expressions, including traditional dance and artisanal crafts.
Inaugural tour of Europe
As newly appointed Country Brand Ambassadors, Néstor Ló y Los Caminantes will undertake their first European tour, titled “Ndaipóri Frontera”, meaning There are no Borders. This tour represents a major step in their international career and a significant opportunity for cultural diplomacy. A central engagement of the tour will be their participation in the LAUKSNOS International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage. This invitation is particularly noteworthy as the group will be the only cultural delegation from Latin America present at this year’s edition of the festival in Lithuania.
The inclusion in such a prestigious event highlights the growing international recognition of their work and the universal appeal of Paraguayan folklore. Their performance in Lithuania is expected to be a key moment for showcasing the nation’s heritage on a prominent global platform. The tour aims to build new bridges and foster a greater appreciation for Paraguayan culture among European audiences, thereby strengthening the country’s presence in new and important international circuits.
Connecting with audiences across the continent
The “Ndaipóri Frontera” tour is set to visit a number of major European cities, ensuring a wide reach. Following their appearance in Lithuania, the band has confirmed performances in London and Dublin. These concerts will provide an opportunity for the group to connect with diverse audiences in two of Europe’s most dynamic cultural capitals. Subsequently, the tour will continue to Paris, another key centre for world music and art.
Furthermore, the group will hold several performances across Spain, with concerts scheduled in the cities of Madrid, Barcelona, and Málaga. This extensive itinerary demonstrates a strategic effort to engage with both large Paraguayan expatriate communities and new European fans. Each performance is designed not only as a concert but as an immersive cultural experience, bringing the sounds and spirit of Paraguay to the heart of Europe.
A history of recent achievements
This esteemed ambassadorship builds upon a series of recent accolades for Néstor Ló y Los Caminantes. The group was previously designated as a “Tourist Reference of Paraguay” by the National Secretariat of Tourism (SENATUR). That title acknowledged their valuable contribution to promoting the country as a vibrant destination through their artistic work. Their music often serves as a soundtrack to the nation’s landscapes and traditions, inspiring interest among potential visitors.
In addition to these official recognitions, the band has also received critical acclaim within the music industry. Their album, also titled “Ndaipóri Frontera,” was awarded Best Album of the Year at the Propya Awards 2026. This prestigious award from their peers celebrated the album’s artistic quality and its impact on the contemporary music scene. Together, these achievements solidify the group’s position as leading figures in the preservation and innovation of Paraguayan musical heritage.
