How Jorge Peralta’s “Furia Albirroja” United Uganda’s Children With Paraguay’s Heart

Jorge Peralta, a 55-year-old Paraguayan living in Atlanta, United States, has spent the past 26 years building a life abroad. Yet it is his latest song release, Furia Albirroja (Red-and-White Fury), that shows how connected he still is to Paraguay. Peralta does not define himself as a songwriter in the professional sense.

“I am just someone who loves music and enjoys writing songs,” he explains to The Asunción Times. While Peralta has spent most of his working life in the construction industry, specialising in home remodelling and interior design, music has always remained a personal passion rather than a career path. “I never set out to build a career as a musician or songwriter. I simply write from the heart whenever inspiration comes.”

Although he says he cannot pinpoint exactly when he began writing songs, the first composition he professionally recorded and released on digital platforms came in 2021. Since then, he has continued developing his music and later acquired the rights to the name and trademark of the band Nendive.

An unexpected inspiration

What began as a standard promotional effort quickly evolved into a humanitarian chain of events. Peralta explains that the initial idea was simple: “I was looking for creative ways to promote my new song. While searching for ideas, I came across videos of children dancing to World Cup songs, and they were getting a lot of views.”

Inspired by this trend, he reached out to several groups before choosing one that stood out to him for its sincerity. “I contacted three different groups, and I chose Shepherds Africa in Uganda because they seemed the most humble. They kindly agreed, and that is how it all began.”

Furia Albirroja: A viral moment

The resulting video resonated strongly in Paraguay, sparking an unexpected wave of public engagement. People began asking how they could send Paraguay jerseys to the children featured in the project. This led Peralta to connect with Kyrios, a company specialising in jerseys and sports clothes.

“I had a wonderful experience with Luis, the owner, and together we organised the shipment of the jerseys. Everything went perfectly, and seeing the children so happy was incredibly rewarding.”

Music beyond borders

What followed extended the project even further. Peralta was later contacted by an orphanage in Paraguay supporting children with cancer. Once again, generosity played a central role. “Luis surprised me by refusing to let me pay for the jerseys. ‘I will take care of it,’ he said.”

To make the visit even more special, Peralta invited Víctor Valdés, the vocalist of his song Furia Albirroja, to perform for the children. “The result was truly amazing. It brought smiles, music, and a little happiness to children who are fighting the biggest battle of their lives.”

Reflecting on the journey, Peralta admits the outcome surpassed anything he had originally envisioned. “Looking back, it is funny because my original goal was simply to promote my song. In the end, that became secondary. What turned out to be far more meaningful was seeing those children smile. That became the real reward, and honestly, it is worth so much more than any promotion my song could ever receive.”

“I think what truly inspires me to write songs is my love for music and my desire to stay connected to Paraguay. Even though I have lived in the United States for many years, Paraguay has always remained in my heart. Writing songs is one of the ways I keep that connection alive. It is my way of expressing my feelings, my memories, and my love for the country where I grew up.”

Now, Furia Albirroja has become more than a song. It has turned into a reminder that sometimes, the most powerful impact of art is not fame or numbers, but human connection.
