Free Salsa, Bachata And Dance Workshops In Asunción!

Asunción welcomes a new series of free dance workshops in April 2026, organised by the National Secretariat of Culture. The programme includes classical, Paraguayan, salsa, bachata, and dance workshops, all held at the Site of Memory and Cultural Centre 1A – Ycuá Bolaños. These classes provide accessible spaces for artistic learning, creative expression, and community engagement for people of all ages, for free.

Classical, contemporary, and Paraguayan dance

After the summer classes, this time workshops in classical, contemporary, and Paraguayan dance will run from 6 April to 4 December, Monday to Friday. Participants will also have the chance to showcase their progress during a process exhibition scheduled for July. Classical dance focuses on technique, posture, and expressive movement and is designed for participants aged 16 and over.

Contemporary dance is open to intermediate and advanced dancers seeking to refine their skills and deepen professional training. Paraguayan dance welcomes everyone aged 12 and above, offering an introduction to national rhythms and cultural heritage.

Salsa and Bachata workshops

The programme also includes social and competitive ballroom dance. Salsa and bachata workshops will take place on 8, 15, and 22 April from 19:00 to 21:00. Sessions are led by master dancers Silvia Bogarín and Jorge Fariña, combining technical instruction with the enjoyment of movement. These workshops are designed for participants aged 18 and over, focusing on coordination, musicality, and stylistic expression.

The workshops help participants develop body awareness, coordination, and creative expression while welcoming different skill levels. By offering multiple dance styles, the programme encourages cultural appreciation, inclusion, and the enjoyment of movement as both an art form and a recreational activity.

Registration and participation

All workshops are free, but prior registration is required. Interested participants can sign up by filling out the salsa and bachata form or the classical, Paraguayan, and contemporary dance form. The National Secretariat of Culture continues to strengthen Asunción’s cultural identity while promoting artistic education and inclusive community participation.
