Argentine Artists Kevin Johansen And Liniers Return To Asunción For Tour Finale

Internationally acclaimed musician Kevin Johansen and celebrated illustrator Liniers are returning to Asunción for the closing stretch of their long-running collaborative tour. The performance will take place on Wednesday, 22 April at 21:00 at Teatro Guaraní. The duo will also present their new live album Desde que te Madrid (Since you Madrid) and their latest book Es nuestra forma de comunicarnos (It is our way of communicating).

After reuniting in 2023, the artists have toured extensively across Latin America and Europe. Asunción has now been confirmed as one of the final stops. The event promises a distinctive blend of live music, illustration, humour, and storytelling. As a result, the show continues to attract both long-time fans and first-time audiences.

Who are Kevin Johansen and Liniers?

Kevin Johansen is an Argentine-American singer-songwriter known for blending pop, folk, rock, and Latin rhythms. His songs often move between Spanish and English, reflecting his multicultural background and international career. Over more than two decades, he has released multiple albums, toured globally, and collaborated with artists from different musical traditions. His work is recognised for its warmth, irony, and playful observations of everyday life.

Liniers, whose real name is Ricardo Siri, is one of Argentina’s most influential contemporary cartoonists and illustrators. He is best known as the creator of the comic strip Macanudo, which is published internationally and translated into several languages. His illustrations combine gentle humour, emotional depth, and imaginative characters. In addition, his books and exhibitions have earned him a loyal readership across Latin America, Europe, and North America.

Together, Johansen and Liniers have developed a live format that transforms a traditional concert into a visual performance. While Johansen performs his songs on stage, Liniers creates drawings in real time, projected onto a screen behind the musicians. Therefore, each performance becomes a unique artistic dialogue between sound and image.

Blending music and illustration

The live show is often described as a “concert with drawings” or an “illustrated book in motion”. Audiences watch the songs evolve visually as the drawings respond to rhythm, lyrics, and mood. This dynamic interaction creates moments of surprise and humour, while also allowing quieter, more emotional scenes to emerge.

Moreover, the format encourages spontaneity. No two performances are identical, as the illustrations are improvised and shaped by the atmosphere of the venue and the audience’s energy. As a result, spectators experience a performance that feels intimate, even in large theatres. Over the years, the project has built a strong reputation for creativity and accessibility. The show appeals not only to music lovers, but also to readers, illustrators, and families seeking a cultural event that crosses artistic boundaries.

New creative chapter

The duo’s collaboration has travelled to major theatres, cultural festivals, and book fairs across several continents. Many performances have sold out, confirming the project’s lasting popularity. In addition, two live DVDs were recorded in Buenos Aires and Mexico, while earlier illustrated books documented the evolution of the show.

After several years without performing together, their reunion in 2023 marked a renewed phase of international touring. Since then, the project has continued to grow, reaching new audiences while maintaining a loyal fan base.

In 2025, the tour celebrates the release of a new live recording, Desde que te Madrid, alongside a new book that reflects their creative partnership. Therefore, the Asunción performance offers a rare opportunity to experience this acclaimed collaboration before the tour comes to an end.
