Paraguay Tourism Sector Reaching Global Market With Civitatis Partnership

The National Secretariat of Tourism (Senatur) has forged a strategic alliance with Civitatis, a leading global platform for excursions and activities in Spanish. Civitatis is a company created in 2008 and located in Madrid, Spain. This collaboration will enable local Paraguayan tourism providers to reach a community of over 40 million travellers worldwide.

The Minister of Tourism, Angie Duarte, welcomed the agreement enthusiastically, stating: “Paraguay opens a new international window to showcase the best of our culture, gastronomy, nature and hospitality. This alliance represents more opportunities for our tourism providers and more visitors discovering what we are as a country.”

The agreement follows a strategic meeting between executives from the Spanish company and officials from the Senatur. The Senatur will organise a virtual presentation to introduce key Paraguayan tourism representatives to this new global platform.

Civitatis expanding market reach for Paraguay

Through this initiative, Paraguayan tourism providers can integrate their experiences into Civitatis’ global catalogue. Local providers would offer guided tours, excursions, cultural, gastronomic and nature-based activities via the platform. Civitatis currently offers more than 95,000 activities in 4,000 destinations across 160 countries.

The alliance with Civitatis signifies a qualitative leap in Paraguay’s strategy for positioning itself in international markets. This alliance would have a particular impact in Europe and Latin America, where the platform has a strong presence. Beyond promotion, this integration also implies a rigorous curation of experiences, which must meet criteria of quality, safety and a distinctive appeal.

Positive outlook for Paraguayan tourism

Nicolás Posse represents Civitatis in the Cono Sur (Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay). He noted that the travelling community was very interested in what Paraguay has to offer. The most important reason mentioned was the diversity of touristic experiences. The representative also added that Civitatis is fully committed to strengthening its partnership with Paraguay and the tourism providers.

The Senatur General Director of Tourism Products Andrés Ortíz explained that this agreement is part of a broader expansion policy. He also stated that the Senatur and Civitatis will support Paraguay’s tourism providers throughout the entire process. The aim is to capitalise on this vital opportunity and assist the tourism company in complying with the requirements.

This initiative will greatly help Paraguay, which is already getting more international recognition in the tourism sector. In the first quarter of 2025, Paraguay claimed the global tourism crown with a stunning 53% growth.
