New Wisdom Videoclip: Mystical Themes, And Paraguay’s Black Metal Evolution

Paraguayan black metal band Wisdom premiered their official videoclip for “Creatrix” in Asunción. The premiere marks a significant visual milestone for the group that has been crafting extreme metal music since 1994. The three-piece band comprises L.k.S (vocals and drums), Khaos (guitar and vocals), and Pomber (guitar and bass).

Black metal, characterised by its dark themes and atmospheric soundscapes, finds particular expression in South America where bands like Wisdom blend mystical elements with powerful musical arrangements.

The videoclip, now available on YouTube, features haunting imagery filmed in an abandoned underground cellar belonging to Paraguayan plastic artist Aldo Gulino. The location, described by Wisdom as resembling a museum filled with religious artwork and sculptures, provided the perfect backdrop for exploring the song’s conceptual themes of rebirth and spiritual tribute.

Wisdom creative collaboration behind the scenes

Director Marco Bogarin, working as both filmmaker and cinematographer, faced the challenge of creating atmospheric visuals that would complement the song’s dark themes. The production faced significant challenges, with filming taking place in extreme conditions without electricity. They had to rely solely on candlelight for illumination whilst enduring sweltering heat and humidity in the underground space.

“When I entered Aldo’s house, which is practically a museum with the amount of things he has, I found it so crazy – his art, his vision of things, sometimes quite dark,” Bogarin explained during the press conference. The collaboration between musician L.k.S’s artistic vision and Bogarin’s cinematographic expertise resulted in what the team describes as a seamless fusion of musical and visual artistry.

Wisdom’s international recognition and label support

The videoclip represents more than artistic expression for Wisdom; it serves as a crucial promotional tool in today’s music industry. The video supports their album “Saint Algolagnia Immaculate,” which gained international distribution through Mexican independent label Concreto Records. This partnership represents a significant step for Paraguay’s metal scene, where bands traditionally struggle to reach audiences beyond South America.

L.k.S emphasised the practical importance of visual content in today’s streaming-dominated music landscape: “We are living in a world where physical disc releases are becoming less frequent, and we are experiencing the boom of streaming platforms.” For metal bands from smaller markets like Paraguay, music videos become essential tools for reaching international audiences who discover new music primarily through visual platforms like YouTube.

Conceptual depth and symbolism

True to the black metal tradition of incorporating esoteric and symbolic elements into their work, Wisdom maintains that every element of their production carries intentional meaning. This approach reflects broader trends in extreme metal, where bands often embed complex symbolism into their artistic output.

The song selection for videoclip treatment was deliberate. Band members cited “Creatrix” as one of the album’s most dynamic compositions. The clip features mid-tempo sections, guitar solos, and atmospheric passages that translate effectively to visual medium.

Looking forward

During the press conference, the band mentioned plans for a second videoclip tentatively scheduled for release in December, 2025. Furthermore, they will continue with their visual exploration of the “Saint Algolagnia Immaculate” album. Additionally, Wisdom announced the official launch of a re-recording of their first demo “The South, The Sun, The Sign” scheduled for 11 September 2025. The event will feature a listening party and press conference with band members and one of the founding members.

The “Creatrix” premiere featured merchandise sales and fan interaction, highlighting the band’s enduring connection to their local audience after three decades of musical evolution.

Wisdom’s “Creatrix” videoclip stands as testament to Paraguay’s growing extreme metal scene. The genre has gained international recognition through bands like Kuazar; the group was recently named Paraguay’s most popular metal band by Loudwire magazine after completing a historic European tour.

Wisdom represents the sophisticated artistic vision that has developed in Paraguay’s underground music community over three decades. The group showcase how veteran bands continue to evolve their artistic expression whilst maintaining the dark, symbolic foundations that define the genre.
