Asunción offers loads of bars, with each neighbourhood showcasting its own unique vibe. But how do you find the truly great ones? The Asunción Times has the answer with our new Pub Crawl: a fantastic chance to explore the city’s best bars alongside us!
The history of pub crawls
So, what exactly is a pub crawl? The concept originated in the 19th century among students in the UK but gained popularity in the US during the early 1900s. The term ‘crawl’ refers to the slow, ‘leisurely’ pace of moving from one bar to the next. Today, pub crawls are hugely popular in many countries, with various exciting variations.
And now, you can experience the first-ever Pub Crawl by The Asunción Times!
The Asunción Times Pub Crawl
The inaugural Asunción Times Pub Crawl will take place in downtown Asunción. Priced at just 100,000 Gs per person, the ticket includes five complimentary drinks. The evening kicks off at Rack‘n’ Roll at Mcal. Estigarribia street, with a total of 5 pubs on the itinerary. We’ll spend approximately 45 minutes at each venue, with a 10-minute regroup before walking to the next stop.
Upon arrival at the meeting point, our charming host will warmly welcome you, ensuring you feel at ease. She’ll introduce you to fellow crawlers to get conversations flowing. The event will be conducted in English, but our host also speaks Spanish and Dutch.
The Asunción Times Pub Crawl starts at 7:30 pm, please be sure to arrive on time – or even better, arrive early and sample some of Paraguay’s best beers from the extensive collection available at Rack’n Roll! At 7:30 pm, our host will outline the evening’s plan and what to expect, along with a brief introduction to our starting point, bar Rack ‘n’ Roll.
What’s Next?
After the kick-off, the ‘crawl’ begins! You’ll receive your first free drink, and then head off to visit the other 4 bars, each offering a unique atmosphere. At every stop, you’ll enjoy a complimentary drink, time to explore and the chance to grab additional drinks or hit the dance floor. Just keep an eye on our host, who will signal when it’s time to move to the next venue.
The crawl is expected to conclude around midnight, but the fun doesn’t have to end there! Feel free to stay longer at the final bar, order more drinks or food, or revisit a favourite spot from earlier in the evening
