The Paraguayan Directorate of Migrations (DNM) and the National University of Asunción (UNA) have formalised an agreement to promote the internationalisation of higher education in Paraguay, with the aim of attracting more international students.
The document was signed by Jorge Kronawetter, the National Director of Migrations, and Zully Vera, UNA’s Rector, during an event at the campus in San Lorenzo.
The agreement seeks to promote education, student mobility, and cultural exchanges for foreign citizens over 18 in Paraguay within the scope of both institutions’ competence.
Additionally, it establishes a protocol for processing one-year temporary residence permits for foreigners participating in academic programs or activities in the country, encompassing students, teachers, and researchers.
The event was also attended by UNA’s Vice Rector, Miguel Torres Ñumbay, along with other directors and officials from both institutions.
The agreement is valid for five years from its signing, with the possibility of renewal by mutual agreement.
Through this collaboration, Migrations and UNA aim to strengthen the internationalisation of Paraguay’s educational system by facilitating the integration of international students and academics, and providing new opportunities for cultural and academic exchange within the country.
