Residents of Asunción will have the opportunity to celebrate International Yoga Day through a free community event. YogaFest Paraguay 2026 will take place on Saturday, 20 June, at Plaza Herminio Giménez, bringing together practitioners, families, and local entrepreneurs for an afternoon dedicated to wellbeing and mindful living. Ahimsa Yoga Paraguay organises the festival, combining yoga, music, healthy food, and cultural activities.
Different yoga styles will run from 12:00 to 17:00, with organisers inviting participants of all ages and experience levels to take part.
A global celebration with local participation
International Yoga Day is observed annually on 21 June and was established in the United Nations in 2014. Since then, the observance has grown into a worldwide movement celebrated in more than 190 countries through public classes, workshops, and cultural events. Although the international observance falls on 21 June, YogaFest Paraguay will take place the day before. The event allows residents to join the global celebration over the weekend.
The programme will begin at 12:00 with the organisation of stands and the reception of visitors. At 13:00, the festival will officially open with a conference dedicated to International Yoga Day and its significance. Yoga sessions will continue throughout the afternoon. A Hatha Yoga class is scheduled for 14:00, followed by Kundalini Yoga at 15:00 and Vinyasa Yoga at 16:00. Children’s yoga classes will take place in parallel to these sessions, creating opportunities for families to participate together. The programme will conclude at 17:00 with a Kirtan Yoga session focused on meditation through sacred mantras.
Conscious entrepreneurship
Beyond the classes, YogaFest Paraguay will feature a wellness fair showcasing local entrepreneurs and businesses. Confirmed exhibitors include Shanti Cuencos Tibetanos, which offers products imported from Nepal and India. Also, Lobo Blanco, known for handmade candles and incense. Lastly, GGDiario, a project specialising in hand-painted textiles.
The event will also include vegetarian and healthy food options, like Combitos, traditional Indian cuisine, and live music performances. At the same time, tastings of aloe vera-based beverages and Henna artist Jahnavi Henna Artist will share the ancient tradition of henna body art. Organisers describe the gathering as a space where participants can discover new wellness practices while supporting local entrepreneurs.
Entry is free, and organisers have announced that the first 100 people to register will receive a special gift. With a combination of physical activity and community engagement, YogaFest Paraguay aims to bring the spirit of International Yoga Day to Paraguay’s capital.
