Asunción residents interested in trying pickleball can attend free beginner lessons in Paraguay’s capital throughout June 2026. The initiative comes as the sport continues to gain visibility in Paraguay, following the opening of new facilities and the growth of local player communities. Pickleball combines elements of tennis, padel, and badminton. It is played with solid paddles and a perforated plastic ball on a court smaller than a standard tennis court. The sport has experienced significant growth internationally in recent years and has gradually expanded its presence in Paraguay.
Local interest in the sport continues to grow
Although pickleball originated in the United States in 1965, it only arrived in Paraguay in recent years. Early players were primarily people with experience in tennis or padel who organised informal groups and communities. Over the past year and a half, the sport has become more visible through the opening of private courts and the establishment of the Asunción Pickleball Club (APC), which brings together players from across the country.
Paraguay has also formed a national pickleball team. The team has participated in international competitions held in Peru and the United States, contributing to the sport’s growing profile locally.

Beginner sessions open to the public
Free pickleball lessons for beginners are being offered at Club Dink, located in the Barrail Costanera Complex in Asunción. The sessions are open to the public and do not require previous experience. Participants can use paddles and balls provided by the organisers, allowing newcomers to try the sport without purchasing equipment. Lessons take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 19:00 to 21:00, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 09:00 to 11:00.
According to organisers, the sessions are intended to introduce more people to the sport and provide an opportunity to learn the basic rules and techniques in a structured environment. Court reservations at the venue are managed through the Reva app. Both the lessons and court bookings are available to the general public.
