Health Information System reaches more than 500 health facilities across Paraguay

The Health Information System (HIS) is used in more than 500 care centers at all levels, which streamlines and improves the quality of patient care processes, collecting data in real time and providing accurate reports for decision-making at the managerial level.

The digital transformation in health continues to advance throughout the country with the implementation of the HIS System, which increasingly adds establishments of all levels of care.

The seventh month of the year added 30 healthcare centers to the implementation of the HIS, thus totaling 508 in the national territory. Since the beginning of this project, 26,248,325 consultations have been registered, of which 7,392,008 correspond only to the year 2024.

Health facilities that have HIS have an advantage in the efficient organisation of human resources, better quality of care processes, through real-time data collection, the possibility of knowing the stock in pharmacy, recording the medical history of the patients and others.

This project is jointly addressed between the Ministry of Health and the Technical Mission of the Republic of China (Taiwan), through “Project to Improve Efficiency in Health Informatics Management (Phase II)”, and has the support of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (Mitic), Koica, Itaipu, the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
