The National Professional Promotion Service (SNPP) is offering free, in-person cooking classes focused on traditional Paraguayan cuisine. The programme is designed to strengthen national culinary heritage while providing practical training for those interested in gastronomy.
The course covers iconic dishes such as vori vori and chipa guasu, offering participants the opportunity to develop hands-on skills in preparing traditional recipes. Open to the public, the initiative welcomes anyone interested in Paraguayan food, from beginners to those seeking to refine their culinary abilities.
Training across three locations
Unlike previous editions, the Traditional Paraguayan Cuisine programme will now be delivered across multiple training centres, expanding access to participants in different regions of the country. The first course will take place at Mariano Roque Alonso from 8 June to 6 July 2026. The second will be held in the Regional Guairá centre, running from 17 June to 14 July 2026. A third edition will be offered at Villa Victoria, Sajonia neighbourhood in Asunción from 24 June to 27 July 2026.
Each course offers 80 hours of instruction, and learners should be at least 15 years old. All sessions are in-person, ensuring direct practical engagement with instructors and culinary techniques. Classes run from Monday to Friday, with schedules varying by location: 08:00 to 12:00, 13:30 to 17:30, and 13:00 to 17:00, respectively. By maintaining a flexible schedule, SNPP aims to encourage participation from a diverse audience while promoting inclusive access to education in gastronomy.
Preserving culinary identity
The primary objective of the programme is to promote Paraguayan cultural identity through food. Participants will learn traditional techniques that form part of the country’s culinary heritage, helping to ensure that these practices are preserved for future generations. In addition to cultural preservation, the course also has a strong employment focus. SNPP highlights that training in traditional gastronomy can open pathways to work in the food sector, as well as support entrepreneurial projects related to catering and hospitality.
This initiative forms part of SNPP’s broader mission to expand technical and vocational training opportunities across Paraguay. By offering specialised courses such as this, the institution continues to support both cultural preservation and workforce development.
