The National Tourism Secretariat (Senatur) and the Tourism Secretariat of the Itapúa Governorate began actions to promote tourism in the city of Encarnación and the department during the summer, by promoting tourist attractions in Encarnación ahead of the World Rally Championship being held there later this year.
As part of these initiatives, an Open Bus tour was carried out around the main tourist attractions of the city. “With actions like this, we seek to consolidate Encarnación as a first-class tourist destination and take full advantage of the potential that the World Rally Championship represents,” said Ángel Bogado, advisor to Senatur.
This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the Carnaval Encarnaceno, an event declared of tourist interest that will take place on January 25, February 1, 8 and 15, and has the support of Senatur and the Government.
The World Rally Championship will come to Paraguay from August 28 to 31, expecting to attract between 300,000 and 400,000 tourists. The authorities’ goal is to turn Encarnación and Itapúa into year-round tourist destinations, taking advantage of the interest and flow of visitors that one of the main motor sport events will bring to other tourist attractions in Encarnación.
