The Mandu’arã Cultural Association invites the public to participate in the last edition of the night tour of the Recoleta Cemetery this year, an event that promises to offer attendees a deep journey into the history and legends of the country. This special tour, scheduled for today, Saturday, October 26, aims to revalue the cultural and historical legacy of Paraguay through the voices of the “residents” of this emblematic place.

During the activity, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the fascinating stories and events that marked the lives of key figures in Paraguay, as well as admire the impressive architecture of this cemetery, considered the largest open-air museum in Asunción.

Among the historical figures whose remains rest here are Elisa Lynch , wife of Marshal Francisco Solano López, president of Paraguay during the War of the Triple Alliance; Patricio Escobar , military man and politician who became president of the country; Juan Emiliano O’Leary , journalist, historian, poet and prominent essayist; Silvio Pettirossi , military man and pioneer of aviation in Paraguay; Carlota Palmerola , midwife and renowned philanthropist; and Serafina Dávalos , the first female lawyer in Paraguay and feminist who legally defended the equality of women before the law.

The tour, which will begin at 4:30pm, is free and open to the public, and is designed for the entire family, with no prior registration required. Access will be via Gate No. 3, located on Avda. Mariscal López. Attendees are advised to bring water and use repellent for greater comfort during the tour.

The organisation points out that this activity seeks to connect participants with the legacy of those who have left an indelible mark on the history of Paraguay.
