The Government of Paraguay, through the Office of the First Lady and other institutions, will hold the grand Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony this Sunday, 30 November 2025, in front of López Palace in Asunción. The event is part of “Christmas Blossoms in Paraguay” (La Navidad Florece en Paraguay). This aims to rekindle the Christmas spirit in the historic centre of Paraguay’s capital. An acknowledgement of national talent

In leading weeks, over 30 master craftsmen and their families worked on creating pieces of wood, natural fibre, and design details that highlight the flowers of our country. This process of artisanal creation serves as an acknowledgement of national talent. Additionally, it gives an opportunity to generate employment for families dedicated to traditional crafts.

The day’s events will include a living Nativity scene, a Christmas market featuring artisans and cuisine, in addition to artistic performances for all ages. The activity is part of the comprehensive programme for the revitalisation of the historic centre. This has been promoted since August 2023 and seeks to restore the downtown area to its character as a safe, vibrant, and public space.

The moment of the lighting will be accompanied by a drone show that will illuminate the sky with a choreographed display. Subsequently, the group Tierra Adentro will offer a concert on the coastal stage, closing the evening with a musical performance designed for families to enjoy together. With this combination of technology, popular art, and national music, the event offers a modern Christmas experience without losing its cultural roots.

Transportations and safety measures

To guarantee safe and orderly access to the Christmas Tree lighting, the organisers have arranged for free, secure parking at the Port of Asunción. This is allowing families to comfortably reach the downtown area. Furthermore, at the end of the event, the “Búho” night bus service lines will be available. The buses will be departing from the corner of Colon and Presidente Franco starting from 22:00. This offers a safe return option for those travelling home by public transport. This measure is part of the inter-institutional effort to promote safe mobility during mass events.
