From Urban To Ballet: Pulso Dance Festival 2025 Is A Celebration Of Dance

The Pulso International Dance Festival is holding its seventh edition this weekend at the Gran Teatro del Banco Central del Paraguay, from the 12 to the 14 of September 2025. This year’s festival in Asunción, held under the theme “Vibing high” (Vibramos alto), will feature workshops and performances by both Paraguayan and international dance instructors and performers.

Over 70 dance academies are participating in the festival. In addition to the workshops, there will be a gala performance showcasing a wide variety of dance styles.

International guest performers and jury

Pulso Dance Festival 2025 boasts a stellar line-up of international guests. Among them are renowned Spanish dancer Jesús Carmona, and Brazilian dancers Roberto Skiante and Carlla Bublitz. These international stars will not only perform but also serve on the judging panel alongside Paraguayan judges Sussy Sacco, Laura Troche, Rodrigo Rojas, Gloria Oviedo, Cynthia Echagüe, Miguel Bonnin and Thyrsa Da Rosa.

The international guests will lead three workshops, covering a range of techniques and styles.

Diverse dance styles at Pulso Dance Festival 2025

The artistic presentations will cover a wide range of styles, including classical ballet, neoclassical ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, free technique, Paraguayan dance, Spanish dance, Arabic dance, international folk dance, urban dance, acrodance, and free style. The breadth of styles highlights the festival’s commitment to showcasing diverse artistic expression.

A growing festival

Established in 2018, Pulso began as a fresh and youthful initiative aimed at providing visibility to new dance artists. Over the years, it has grown into a significant event, recognised as a key platform for cultural exchange in Paraguay. The festival’s continued success demonstrates the increasing importance of dance as a vital art form in the region.
