The city of Hohenau, proudly recognised as Paraguay’s National Capital of Immigrants, and the Mother of the Itapúa Colonies, is set to play a central role in the much-anticipated World Rally Championship (WRC), a premier event in global motorsport. Hohenau prepares to welcome the rally, to be held in Paraguay for the first time, from 28 to 31 August, 2025.
Hohenau, located in the Itapúa Department of Paraguay, was founded in 1900, and is renowned for its welcoming atmosphere, which draws visitors to events like the Festival of Communities held at Parque de las Naciones. As a hub for the WRC, the city, six hours southwest of Asunción, offers a blend of scenic landscapes, cultural diversity, and modern amenities.
Parque de las Naciones: A rally haven
The renowned Parque de las Naciones will serve as an official rally campsite. The venue will provide a welcoming environment for international visitors and teams. Featuring an International Gastronomic Area, parking facilities, lavatories, showers, and personalised services, including interpreters. A highlight of this year’s rally is the newly constructed “Hohenau Jumps” circuit, an initiative led by the local municipality. Transforming a former landfill into a state-of-the-art motorsport track, this 1,000-metre course features three striking jumps and a tunnel, designed to challenge drivers and captivate spectators. Offering full visibility, the Hohenau Jumps is set to be a defining feature of the Power Stage, where pivotal moments of the competition will unfold.
