Singer-songwriter Ale Portillo, hailing from Coronel Oviedo in east-central Paraguay, is known for her raw, rebellious, and chameleon-like presence. She will present her independent show Rockstar Proletaria at the Centre Català d’Asunción (Cerro Corá 276) on August 9. The Paraguayan artist promises a visceral, authentic, and deeply human performance.
Rockstar Proletaria is not a traditional concert, she promises: it is an immersive experience born from self-management, and driven by a desire to put body and voice at the center of the stage. The show unfolds as a scenic ritual where movement, words, and images merge without borders to tell a collective, emotional story.
“I did not come to fit in”
Through this performance, Ale invites the audience to journey through deep emotions and confront their own cracks and strengths.“I did not come to fit in. I came to set things on fire,” Ale shares. “That fire becomes an artistic act, a shared cry, a tribute to all those who make art without waiting for permission, without sponsors, but with full conviction.”
Ale Portillo comes from a family of self-taught singers. Over the years, she has explored a wide range of genres such as pop, rock, jazz, funk, traditional Paraguayan music, and singer-songwriter styles, always staying true to her authentic essence.
International exposure
Ale has represented Paraguay at international festivals like Colombia Music Fest, shared the stage with the popular Chilean-Mexican musician Mon Laferte, reached the semifinals of Canta Conmigo Paraguay, and performed as a resident singer at the Intercontinental Doha during the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

With art as her life’s purpose, Ale is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Popular Music at the National University of Asunción. She also continues her training as a certified vocal coach by Modern Vocal Training (international level). The artist is teaching both singing and languages at the same time.
A call for collaborators
Rockstar Proletaria is an independent project currently in production, calling on passionate co-conspirators to join its creative rebellion. “The project seeks media platforms willing to amplify powerful, unfiltered voices that challenge conventions and speak with honesty. In addition, brands and entrepreneurs who believe in local talent, cultural authenticity, and bold innovation are invited to take part. Likewise, cultural spaces and festivals open to raw, disruptive, and emotionally charged performances are welcome collaborators.”
But more than anything, Rockstar Proletaria looks for people who feel deeply. Who believe in the power of art to transform, and want to be part of the journey. “Collaborating with Rockstar Proletaria means being part of a work that beats with the pulse of a time that demands less artifice and more truth.”
