Olimpia, Cerro Porteño, and Libertad all have played important games this week in the Copa Libertadores. They are also playing games early next week. This cup is the most important football tournament in the Americas, and one of the most important in the world. Playing in the Copa Libertadores means a lot to the teams, the players, and the fans. Winning this means being South American champion, and unfortunately for some, not everyone can be.
Olimpia: A Disastrous Start For El Decano In The Copa Libertadores
The first game of Olimpia was played last Wednesday against a “Cinderella club” from Bolivia. The Club Deportivo San Antonio Bulo Bulo is a club from Entre Ríos, Cochabamba, in Bolivia. Since 2024 they are in the first division of Bolivian football and thus, got included in the Copa Libertadores tournament. They beat Olimpia 3-2. Not just fans of El Decano, but an entire nation was mad of losing a game against a team from Bolivia.
The second game of Olimpia in the Copa Libertadores is against Vélez Sarsfield, a club of Argentina. The game will be on Wednesday at 7 PM. Apart from Olimpia, Vélez, and Bulo Bulo, Peñarol from Uruguay is also in the division.

Cerro Porteño: A Strong Start For El Ciclón In The Copa Libertadores
The first game of Cerro Porteño was played last Tuesday against the biggest club from Bolivia: Bolivar. While Bolivar still scored with a man short, they lost 4-2 against El Ciclón. The victory would not have been possible without a hat-trick of Torres. It puts Cerro Porteño first in their division.
The second game of Cerro Porteño in the Copa Libertadores is against Palmeiras, the biggest club from Brazil. The game will be on Wednesday at 9:30 PM. They also played against each other two years ago, and Palmeiras had beaten El Ciclón 4-0 here in Asunción. Apart from Cerro Porteño, Palmeiras, and Bolivar, Sporting Cristal from Peru is also in the division.

Libertad: A Victory For El Gumarelo To Start The Copa Libertadores
The first game of Libertad was played against Alianza Lima last Tuesday. Libertad won 1-0 in a very tight game. A great defensive matchup that certainly gave the fan something to wait for: a goal! Libertad is in first place of its division, but equal with a club from Brazil.
The second game of El Gumarelo in the Copa Libertadores is against Talleres, a club from Argentina. The game is on Tuesday at 7 PM. Apart from Libertad, Talleres, and Alianza Lima, the other club in the division is São Paulo from Brazil.

While there are no Copa Libertadores games for them this weekend, they are still playing regular season games. Libertad and Cerro Porteño are playing against each other this Saturday at 8:30 PM in Asunción. As for Olimpia, they are playing against Guaraní on Sunday at 6:15 PM.
