Sebastián Verón Segovia (13), known as DJ OcO, is already stepping onto major stages and gaining recognition within Paraguay’s electronic music scene. Having performed at large-scale events such as youth sports festival ASU2025, the young Paraguayan is quickly establishing himself as one of the country’s most promising young DJs.
Reflecting on the experience, he described it as a turning point. “That was crazy. It was my first time on a stage of that size. I had never played at an event like that before, and it was probably one of my best experiences as a DJ so far. I really loved it and enjoyed it a lot”, Sebastián tells The Ascunción Times.

“I was in shock”
More recently, DJ OcO was selected for the Tomorrowland Academy, an international programme created by the organisers of the globally recognised Tomorrowland festival. The academy offers young artists training, mentorship, and opportunities to develop their craft. For DJ OcO, the moment was difficult to process.
“I was in shock. I could not believe it. I still cannot fully comprehend that I am going there.” The opportunity places him among emerging talents with access to industry-level guidance and brings him closer to the global stages he hopes to reach in the future.
Musical influences
DJ OcO’s style has been shaped by well-known figures in the electronic music world. He highlights Britsh DJ James Hype as a major influence, particularly for his technical ability and creative mixing. “I love the way he makes mashups. He can have four songs playing at the same time and uses a lot of effects. It impresses me a lot.”
He also points to French DJ David Guetta for his production work, as well as Tiësto from The Netherlands, both of whom have helped shape his musical preferences. These artists continue to influence his sound and remain part of his regular listening.
Early beginnings
Although his achievements are recent, DJ OcO’s connection to music began early. He spent his early childhood in Orlando, Florida, where music was constantly present in his home. “There was always music playing, from polka, rock, blues and Britpop to classical.” Exposure to such a wide range of genres helped develop his interest in music from a young age.
His decision to pursue this path came at the age of eight. “The first time I wanted to try it was when I was playing Fortnite and saw that American DJ en producer Marshmello had an event. I joined it with some friends, and that is when I became interested in deejaying.” That moment sparked a curiosity that would soon turn into a serious pursuit.
Balancing school, life and music
Despite his growing career, DJ OcO maintains a balanced routine. Education remains a priority, something he acknowledges with humour. “I go to school. If not, my mother will kill me,” he says with a laugh. His classmates are aware of his work as a DJ and have been consistently supportive. “They always encourage me.”
Outside the classroom, he stays active through sports, particularly football and rowing. At the same time, music continues to play a central role in his daily life. He studies guitar and piano while dedicating time to practising deejaying and music production. This combination of discipline and passion allows him to continue developing his skills while maintaining a typical teenage routine.
DJ OcO also has clear ambitions. He hopes to perform at some of the world’s most recognised electronic music festivals “I would love to play at Tomorrowland. I would also like to play at EDC, Ultra and Monegros. If I can perform at those festivals in the future, I feel like that would be the best moment.”

A message to young artists
DJ OcO shares a message for others interested in music. “Age should not limit you. You can start at any stage of life, whether you are a child or an adult. What really matters is your passion. Follow your dreams, stay persistent and do not let others tell you what you can or cannot do.”
His journey reflects that belief. Through dedication, curiosity and consistency, he has already reached milestones that many aspiring artists only begin to pursue later in life. With opportunities such as Tomorrowland Academy ahead, his progression suggests that this is only the beginning.
