The Association of Art Galleries of Paraguay (ASGAPA) announces the 12th edition of Galleries Night, the country’s most expansive visual arts event. This event will take place on Saturday, 23 May 2026, from 17:00 to 22:00. Galleries Night 2026 reaffirms the vitality of Paraguay’s contemporary scene. Conceived as a platform for critical reflection, it offers a diverse and decentralised perspective on the national artistic circuit, inviting audiences to engage with creativity.
Galleries Night 2026 will have 20 exhibitions across multiple galleries and cultural institution. Including both establish galleries and emerges spaces. The Cultural Centre of Spain (CCE) will join the circuit, celebrating their 50th anniversary.
Highlights of the Galleries Night 2026
The official launch for press, authorities, and collaborators took place in the gardens of the Culture Centre of Spain in Asunción. During this gathering, organisers presented the logistical details, the event map, and the full list of galleries and institutions that will bring to life a night dedicated exclusively to Paraguayan art.
Furthermore, the feature showcases are: Textile art by Lide Samudio, from the Biblioteca Las Sinsombrero (experimental embroidery as a form of rewriting). Also, OREAR installation from the CCE, which explores air, movement, and cultural transformation. As well as, Josefina Plá retrospective, ceramics and engraving with Payagua motifs, highlighting her role in Paraguayan art history.


Cultural innovation
For this 12th edition of Galleries Night, ASGAPA has introduced a General Curator to unify the conceptual quality of the event, marking a significant innovation in Paraguay’s art circuit. The role is assumed by Ticio Escobar, a distinguished critic, writer, and cultural policymaker whose career has profoundly shaped the country’s cultural landscape.
Escobar, who served as Minister of Culture of Paraguay, is also the author of the National Culture Law, a cornerstone in the nation’s cultural policy. His contributions have earned him multiple international honours, underscoring his influence not only within Paraguay but across Latin America and beyond. This appointment signals a new level of curatorial coherence and prestige for the event, reinforcing its position as a leading platform for contemporary art.
Registration for Galleries Night 2026

To ensure a smooth experience, visitors are encouraged to register in advance through the official ASGAPA website. They can access the full programme and confirm participation. Registration also helps secure a place on the free buses. Those will be running between galleries and the Culture Centre of Spain from 17:00 to 22:00. Specialised guides and students from different universities, such as the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Arts (FADA), who will act as cultural monitors.
