According to the updated report of Paraguay’s Health Information System (HIS), in December 2024 alone, some 73 more health services were added to the network of this computer tool, reaching a total of 765 hospital centers of all levels of care nationwide.
Since the start of this project, 32,487,813 consultations have been recorded in the 765 hospital services with Paraguay’s Health Information System, and in 2024 alone, some 13,631,496 consultations, ensuring that more people have their electronic medical records, thus demonstrating the exponential growth in the implementation of this system at all levels of care.
The implementation of Paraguay’s Health Information System (HIS) in healthcare facilities nationwide enables the efficient organisation of human resources, improves the quality of care processes in healthcare services through real-time data collection, provides the possibility of knowing pharmacy stock, records patients’ medical history, and more.
This project is jointly undertaken by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MSPYBS), the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MITIC) and the Technical Mission of the Republic of China (Taiwan), through the “Project for Improving Efficiency in the Management of Health Informatics (Phase 3)”, and has the support of KOICA, Itaipú Binacional, the World Bank and the IDB.
