The Lingua Franca Club is excited to announce our upcoming Guaraní meeting on March 15! This free, interactive Zoom session will introduce participants to the basics of Guaraní, one of Paraguay’s official languages and an integral part of the country’s indigenous heritage. The event will take place at 1 PM (Paraguay Time) / 12 PM (Eastern US Time) and will last 60 minutes.
At Lingua Franca Club, our mission is to democratise language learning and make it accessible to everyone. We believe that language is a powerful tool for cultural exchange, connection, and understanding. Our goal is to promote both widely spoken languages and indigenous languages like Guaraní, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for learners from all backgrounds. Lingua Franca Club: Having Fun While Learning Languages.

In the past, we have successfully organised language-learning movie nights and held several conferences to bring language learners together. Our WhatsApp chat is also frequently open for participants to connect and practice. Additionally, we recently held our 2nd Lingua Franca Club Awards, where we had the pleasure of awarding certificates to our top learners and collaborators in recognition of their hard work and dedication.
Why Is Guaraní Important In Paraguay?
Guaraní is one of Paraguay’s official languages, spoken by the majority of the population across all social classes. This makes it one of the few indigenous languages in the Americas that is so deeply integrated into modern society. Learning Guaraní allows you to connect with the people of Paraguay on a personal level, understand the country’s history, and show respect for its indigenous culture.
Guaraní is used in all areas of daily life in Paraguay, including education, government, business, and the arts. By learning this language, you’ll be able to participate in the preservation and promotion of Paraguay’s rich cultural heritage and connect more deeply with its people. That is why the Lingua Franca Club is providing a platform to meet other people who speak the language.
A Valuable Resource For Learning Guaraní
If you’re looking to dive deeper into Guaraní, one of the best online resources is “Curiosidades de la Lengua Guaraní“ by Arnaldo Casco Villalba. This insightful work offers a comprehensive understanding of the language’s structure, vocabulary, and cultural significance, making it an excellent starting point for learners at all levels.
Basic Guaraní Phrases To Get Started
Here are a few basic words and phrases to help you get started with learning Guaraní:
- Mba’éichapa? (How are you?)
- Añemomba’e (Thank you)
- ¡Avy’a chehegui! (I’m happy to see you!)
- Iporã (Good, nice, beautiful)
- Nderehechauka che! (See you later!)
- Nde resa porã (You look nice)
These phrases are just the beginning. During our session, we’ll cover more practical phrases, tips for language retention, and provide a fun and engaging learning experience.
A Legacy Of Promoting Indigenous Languages At The Lingua Franca Club
At the Lingua Franca Club, we’ve always been passionate about preserving and promoting indigenous languages. In the past, we’ve offered Hawaiian, another indigenous language, to continue our mission of language learning and cultural appreciation. We strive to make language learning accessible, fun, and enriching for all, and we’re excited to carry this forward with Guaraní and other indigenous languages.
A Sense Of Community At The Lingua Franca Club
The Lingua Franca Club has been promoting language learning for over four years, offering sessions in French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hindi over Zoom. Our interactive sessions encourage participants to engage with each other, ask questions, and share knowledge. We also introduce cultural elements, such as common daily phrases and interactive exercises, to help learners effectively retain the language.
Our Lingua Franca Club Guaraní meeting is made even more special thanks to the visibility The Asunción Times and all the Paraguayan foreigner’s communities like the Digital Nomads, are giving us. The Asunción Times, known for fostering international connections and business networking in the region, has been instrumental in bringing together Spanish, Guaraní, and English learners, and we are more than thankful to have this tribune to share our platform as well. The foreigner’s community in Paraguay has shown great interest in learning Guaraní as a way to connect with the local culture and show respect for Paraguay’s indigenous roots.

We invite all language enthusiasts, travelers, expatriates, and anyone interested in indigenous languages to join us virtually at the Lingua Franca Club for this exciting and educational event. If you’ve ever been curious about Guaraní, now is the perfect time to start learning in a fun, dynamic, and supportive environment.
Don’t miss the chance to be part of a movement that values and preserves indigenous languages! Join us on March 15 and take your first step toward learning the rich and expressive language of Guaraní.
