Learn Traditional Paraguayan Crafts With IPA’s Upcoming Workshops

The Paraguayan Institute of Crafts (IPA) announced the opening of registrations for the 2025 edition of “Escuela de Saberes” (School of Knowledge), a learning space that offers specialised workshops to learn the techniques of a wide range of traditional Paraguayan crafts. Places are limited, so those interested are advised to register in advance.

Traditional Paraguayan crafts workshops available by location:

IPA – Headquarters (Asunción)

  • Embroidery in ao po’i : Saturdays from March 8 to April 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Cost: G. 80,000.
  • Basic Ñandutí : Saturdays from March 8 to April 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Cost: G. 80,000.
  • Embossed leather : Saturdays from March 8 to April 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Cost: G. 80,000.
  • Preparation of ceramic glazes : Saturdays from March 8 to April 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Cost: G. 80,000.

IPA – Luque Branch

  • Basic Jewelry : Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 11 to May 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Free of charge.
  • Intermediate goldsmithing : Wednesdays and Fridays from March 12 to May 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Free of charge.
  • Advanced Goldsmithing : Wednesdays and Fridays from March 12 to May 9, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Free of charge.

IPA – Pirayú branch

  • Basic ao po’i embroidery : Tuesdays from March 11 to June 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Free of charge.
  • Embroidery in the intermediate year : Tuesdays from March 11 to June 24, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Free of charge.

IPA – Yataity branch

  • Basic ao po’i embroidery : Wednesdays and Fridays from March 12 to May 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Free of charge.
  • Embroidery in intermediate years : Wednesdays and Fridays from March 12 to May 9, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Free of charge.
  • Advanced Po’i Embroidery : Thursdays from March 13 to October 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Free of charge.

IPA – Areguá Branch

  • Preparation of ceramic glazes : Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 11 to May 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Free of charge.

IPA – Carapeguá Branch

  • Basic Lace : Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 8 to June 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Free of charge.
  • Intermediate Lacemaking : Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 8 to June 10, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Free of charge.
  • Advanced Lacemaking : Wednesdays and Fridays from April 9 to August 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Free of charge.
