Walk into a world where sound surrounds you, images shift your perspective and technology becomes part of the story. Following its previous editions, EXPYFEST 2026 returns to Asunción on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 August. Across the Alianza Francesa de Asunción and Voüdevil Venue, visitors can explore immersive experiences from Paraguay and Latin America. The festival runs from 14:00 until midnight.
EXPYFEST 2026: exploring new artistic experiences
EXPYFEST invites audiences to experience art through technology and contemporary creative practices. Visitors can encounter virtual reality, augmented reality, 360-degree sound and immersive dome experiences. The programme also features videomapping, live performances, workshops, talks, DJs and VJs. Each activity offers a different way to experience stories through images, sounds and movement.
The festival also includes an international competition featuring selected works from across Latin America. Twelve projects represent Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia and Peru during this year’s edition. Their creators explore different themes through sound, technology, visual art and interactive experiences. Therefore, EXPYFEST 2026 creates a space for artists experimenting with new forms.
Among the Paraguayan selections is K.O., by Francisco Javier. The programme also features MoisesMX6, by Pedro Moisés Chaparro Cantero. Mathias Maciel presents No están solos – 360 as another Paraguayan selection. Meanwhile, international artists bring works from Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia and Peru.
The international programme includes Ecologías de la escucha, by Corchx Gómez and Zencilia Ming from Argentina. Colombia is represented by Nazly López Díaz with Entre luces y sombras. Peru contributes Feedback Fulldome, by Colectivo AMiXR, and Plasticostras, ruido y fe, by X+Y. Argentina also appears with works including Grabado sonoro and Vectores inmanentes.
Music becomes part of the experience
Music forms another important part of EXPYFEST 2026, adding live performances to its immersive programme. Guerrillasoul Experimento brings together electronic rhythms and acoustic sounds. The project features drummer Víctor Morel, keyboardist Rolfi Gómez and bassist Jair Galeano. Saxophonist Bruno Muñoz also joins the group for the festival performance.
The band’s sound moves through dub, downtempo and house while leaving space for improvisation. This approach complements the festival’s focus on experimentation and sensory experiences. The programme also features Paraguayan duo Nambi Kuí and DJ Dulce y Dandy. Other artists from Asunción’s music scene join the programme across both days.
As a result, visitors can move between immersive installations, performances and electronic music sessions. The festival brings together different artistic disciplines within one programme. Instead of focusing on one traditional format, EXPYFEST encourages audiences to explore several forms, making technology become part of an artistic experience.
Tickets and practical information
EXPYFEST 2026 takes place on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 August, from 14:00 until midnight. Two-day admission costs ₲60,000 (approximately US$8.70), while a single-day ticket costs ₲40,000 ($5.80). Visitors can experience the festival across the Alianza Francesa de Asunción and Voüdevil Venue.
EXPYFEST is co-produced by EXPY EAS and the Alianza Francesa de Asunción. The festival also receives support from several cultural and public institutions in Paraguay. These include FONDEC, DINAPI, CCPA, INAP, ICPA, SENATUR and the Secretariat for Language Policies. France’s regional cooperation also supports the festival, alongside an alliance with WWF and AECID.
For audiences interested in technology, music and contemporary art, EXPYFEST offers something different. The two-day programme brings together regional artists and new approaches to storytelling. Visitors can discover works that use technology to change how people experience artistic ideas. With its combination of installations, performances and music, the festival creates a space for experimentation in Asunción.
