University students in Paraguay have a new opportunity to gain professional experience in the public sector. The National Directorate of Public Procurement (DNCP) has officially launched applications for its 2026 University Internship Programme. The internship offers selected students the chance to work alongside public administration professionals while receiving financial support.
Applications will be accepted until 26 June, with internships scheduled to begin later in 2026. The initiative forms part of the institution’s efforts to strengthen the training of future professionals. At the same time, to provide practical experience within a real government environment.
Training opportunities
According to the DNCP, successful applicants will be assigned to several strategic departments within the institution. These include the General Directorate of Contract Verification and the General Directorate of Administration and Finance. Also, the General Directorate of Information Technology and the General Directorate of Strategic Development and Information.
The internship programme will run for 12 months and require participants to complete five hours of work per day, from Monday to Friday. Activities will take place at the DNCP headquarters in central Asunción. In addition to practical training, selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₲1,500,000 (approximately US$245) to assist with transport and other related expenses. The model follows similar internship schemes implemented by other public institutions in Paraguay.
Requirements and application process
Students interested in applying must submit a valid identity card and proof of university studies. These documents are considered mandatory for participation in the selection process. Candidates who are ultimately selected will also need to present updated police and judicial background certificates, as well as documentation confirming that they are not employed as public servants. The DNCP noted that additional qualifications, such as certificates from training courses, workshops, or previous work experience, may strengthen an application, although these documents are not compulsory.
Internship programmes have become an increasingly important pathway for young Paraguayans seeking to enter the labour market. Beyond providing professional experience, they allow students to develop practical skills, expand their professional networks, and gain a deeper understanding of how public institutions operate.
