The López Palace will be the scene of a great show this Saturday, December 14, at 8pm, with the presentation of the play “The Nutcracker.”
This event, organised by the Office of the First Lady and open to all families, is part of the Guarania Christmas celebrations, which began with the lighting of the Christmas tree.
With free admission, this production by the Municipal Classical and Modern Ballet of Asunción, under the artistic direction of maestro Miguel Bonnin, will feature live music by the National Congress Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro Diego Sánchez Haase. On this occasion, the Second Act will be presented, known as The Kingdom of Sweets, one of the most iconic pieces by composer Piotr Ilich Tchaikovsky.
The work features an outstanding cast of dancers such as Macarena Vallejo, Alejandra Acosta, Gianinna Fernández, Gabriela Rolón, Camila Benítez, Rocío Alcaraz, Fátima Miranda, Valentina López Moreira, Abel Rivarola, Juan José Núñez, Federico Fleitas, Ricardo Riveros, José Ramírez, Edgar Torres and Lucas Zárate, who will interpret the unforgettable characters that transport the audience to a world of magic and fantasy.
“The Nutcracker,” originally choreographed by maestro Mario Galizzi and restaged by maestro Ángel Ovelar and Mary Carmen Aquino, tells the story of Clara and her adventure in a kingdom full of sweets and candies. There, she is treated to a fascinating dance show that represents different cultures: the Spanish Dance (Chocolate), the Arabian Dance (Coffee), the Chinese Dance (Tea), the Russian Dance (Candy Cane) and the French Dance (Marzipan). The show culminates with the majestic Waltz of the Flowers and the Grand Pas de Deux of the Confectionery Fairy and Prince Orgead, leaving Clara with an unforgettable memory of her magical adventure.
The event is supported by the National Congress, the Cabildo Cultural Center of the Republic, the National Secretariat of Tourism, the Municipality of Asunción through the General Directorate of Culture and Tourism, and the Association of the Movida of the Historic Center of Asunción (AMCHA).
Lasting approximately one hour, “The Nutcracker” will be a Christmas gift for all families and a must see for those looking to experience Asunción’s culture during this season. In addition, the show will be broadcast live on Paraguay TV and the First Lady’s social networks, allowing more people to enjoy this performance.
