Banco de Alimentos Paraguay (Paraguay Food Bank) will hold its 2026 National Food Drive on Saturday, 3 October 2026, inviting people across Paraguay to donate non-perishable food. Organisers aim to collect 40 tonnes of food with the support of more than 1,000 volunteers. The campaign will run from 07:00 to 20:00, depending on each supermarket’s opening hours. Collection points will operate across Asunción, Greater Asunción and several cities in the interior of Paraguay. The initiative will take place under the slogan “Tu SÍ multiplica”, or “Your YES multiplies”.
More than 70 collection points across Paraguay
Throughout Saturday, volunteers will receive donations at more than 40 collection points across Asunción and Greater Asunción. More than 30 additional locations will operate in cities around the country. These include Villarrica, Coronel Oviedo, Ciudad del Este, Concepción, Pedro Juan Caballero and Coronel Bogado. Volunteers wearing identifiable vests will receive non-perishable products from shoppers at participating supermarkets. The donations will then be transported to Banco de Alimentos Paraguay’s collection centre. There, teams will sort and count the products before preparing them for distribution.
Banco de Alimentos Paraguay currently works with more than 165 social organisations throughout the country. These include community kitchens, children’s centres, care homes and foundations supporting more than 52,300 people in vulnerable situations. The National Food Drive is one of the organisation’s main public mobilisation campaigns. Food collected during the event is distributed through the social organisations forming part of its network.

How to participate in the National Food Drive
People can participate by bringing non-perishable food to any of the collection points operating on Saturday. The campaign also encourages people to spread information about the initiative among friends, relatives, colleagues and their communities.
Those wishing to become volunteers can help receive, organise and transport donations during the event. Registration for volunteers is available online through a form provided by Banco de Alimentos Paraguay. The organisation hopes more than 1,000 volunteers will participate nationwide.
Fighting food insecurity throughout the year
The National Food Drive forms part of Banco de Alimentos Paraguay’s broader work to reduce food insecurity and prevent edible food from going to waste. The organisation connects available food with social organisations supporting vulnerable communities. Its work includes recovering food from companies and other sectors before redistributing suitable products.
Banco de Alimentos Paraguay began operating in the country in 1996 and formally became a non-profit organisation in 2004. Since 2012, it has belonged to The Global FoodBanking Network, an international network connecting food banks around the world. Its initiatives also include recovering fruit and vegetables directly from agricultural production areas. According to the organisation, more than 600 tonnes of food have been recovered since that particular project began.
