Asunción Fashion Week Returns With Resort 2026/27 Rooted In Paraguayan Identity

Asunción Fashion Week (AFW) will hold its Resort 2026/27 edition from 7 to 11 October in Asunción. The event will feature runway shows, international curation, and a fresh perspective on Paraguayan fashion for the upcoming summer season.

Established for 23 years, AFW has become one of the country’s most significant fashion platforms. This latest edition focuses on resort collections that anticipate the summer season, highlighting the styles, silhouettes, and materials expected to define fashion in Paraguay and the wider region.

A vision of Paraguayan identity

The creative direction for the 2026 event is built around four conceptual pillars: Forma (Form), Materia (Matter), Mirada (Gaze), and Origen (Origin). According to the organisers, these pillars aim to blend local identity with international trends.

The concept of Form is expressed through clean, minimalist lines. Matter incorporates natural elements such as cement, stone, wood, water, and vegetation into the event space, alongside natural fibres like linen in the collections. The Gaze refers to the event’s curatorial approach, which treats fashion as an editorial narrative that interacts with the event’s architecture and lighting. Finally, Origin places Paraguayan identity, including craftsmanship, native elements, and local materials, at the core of the creative process, positioning it in dialogue with global fashion codes.

Event structure: Runway showcases and emerging talent

The event programme is divided into two main parts. The first chapter, focusing on runway shows and boutique experiences, will run from Wednesday, 7 October to Saturday, 10 October. Each day will feature a different designer. Victoria Maluff will present on Wednesday, followed by Andrés Báez on Thursday, and Ofelia Otello on Friday. On Saturday, an “Art + Fashion” experience will be presented by designer Ilse Jara.

The second part of the event, AFW Runway, is scheduled for Sunday, 11 October. This day will feature a continuous programme of hourly fashion shows. Participating brands include Hobo, William Ramírez, Inés de la Flor, Historias en Lino, and Máxima. This format is intended to provide a dynamic platform for both established and emerging names in Paraguayan fashion.

In addition to established brands, AFW Runway will also showcase collections from selected students. These students are from two leading Paraguayan institutions, the Universidad Americana and the Universidad Politécnica y Artística del Paraguay (UPAP). This inclusion highlights AFW’s commitment to fostering the next generation of Paraguayan design talent.

International presence and exclusive access

Throughout the week, the AFW Resort 2026/27 experience will be enhanced by “The Brand Edit,” a curated selection of international brands. Furthermore, the Argentinian leather goods brand Prüne will host an international runway show. The event will also feature dedicated lounge areas, backstage access, and other experiences for attendees.

Access to the runway shows is exclusive. However, the organisation encourages fashion enthusiasts to follow the event’s coverage through Ascunión Fashion Week on Instagram. For a report of Asunción Fashion Week 2025, read Dress To Impress During Asunción Fashion Week 2025.
